Questions & Answers

Has anyone tried to remove paint with this heat gun? How well did it go? Is the wood in any way harmed as a result?

Only certain types of paint, usually oil-based, can be removed with heat. 40 years ago, there were oil-based paints. It also emits fumes, can cause burns, and has even resulted in house fires when used incorrectly. You can find a PDF comparing an IPR heater (used to heat paint over a larger area than a heat gun) to the Paint Shaver Pro, Metabo LF 724, and a rotary sander if you google "tool test lead safe paint removal." Near the end, he mentions that the heater excels at scraping thick oil paint, and I've noticed that most of the positive reviews of IPR devices mention scraping hundred-year-old houses, so I believe that's the key. "Paintstripping" is a term that can be found on the internet. pdf" to find a comparison between the Silent Paint Remover and the Paint Shaver Pro, as well as simple manual scraping without assistance. They also discovered inconsistencies in IPR removal performance, finding that it worked well on some 100-year-old paint but left a lot of residue in other test areas. Overall, they found the Paint Shaver Pro to be the quickest method for removing paint, with an average time of 2. Setting nails and sanding smooth after shaving take about 83 minutes per square foot. vs. 4 is the name of the game. Scraping by hand takes 81 minutes, and scraping by machine takes 3 minutes. IPR took 6 minutes, and only the Paint Shaver was able to remove all of the paint. I tried an IPR heater on "marine grade" paint that had been applied in 1985 and found it to be slow, easy to burn yourself, and the fumes to be toxic. Paint shaver pro was far superior in every way, but it was extremely costly unless purchased used.

Is there a set of instructions for setting the temperature for specific projects? In my case, I'm talking about cell phones. To prevent screen damage, what temperature should I use?

There is no information on how to adjust the air temperature, and there is no indication of how hot the air stream is. 1) BE CAREFUL or your project will melt; 2) Check the air temperature with an oven thermometer, but keep in mind that the temperature can reach 600 degrees, so be careful!

Is there a set of nozzles included?

Paint is being removed.

Is it capable of heating brake rotors that have become stuck?

If you aren't going to cut the rotors, a hammer will suffice. I'm a professional mechanic who has completed tens of thousands of similar jobs. I've never had to turn on the heater.

Love it! For the past two decades, I've relied on a Ryobi heat gun
5/5

It would still work if it hadn't been for the fact that I dropped it on concrete and broke the housing. I suppose the fact that it lasted that long is a testament to the quality of the product, but I had no idea how much better things could get until I decided to replace it with this DeWalt. br>br>This tool feels awesome - The controls are very positive and stay where they're set, and the construction is solid and heavy duty. It has a significantly longer cord than my previous tool. But the real difference came when I turned it on and it quickly became extremely hot. It took 30 seconds or more for my old one to reach full temperature. br>br>The material used to construct the housing on this DeWalt feels much more shock resistant and forgiving of rough handling. I doubt it, like its predecessor, will shatter if dropped. br>br>The only thing I can't figure out is how to fold the paper in half. To support it on the bench, we used tripod legs. The tool is almost vertically supported by the housing; an additional 1/8 of an inch and the useless little legs would be unnecessary. However, this is a five-star purchase on the whole.

This heat gun is simple to use, performs well, and is a good quality product
5/5

To break the loctite bond, I had to heat a metal tube on a Benelli to 280 degrees. That was simple with this heat gun, and the temperature dial allowed me to achieve the desired temperature. I've read that some people took up to 30 minutes to complete the task. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to complete the same task. The job was completed in 15 minutes using this heat gun. minutes. It also includes some useful attachments for directing airflow. In the hand, it feels substantial and well-made.

Heat Gun is excellent
5/5

My old Craftsman heat gun finally broke down after nearly 30 years of service. I decided to stick with De Walt and purchase their heat gun because I already own so many of their tools. I am satisfied with it, despite the fact that it is more expensive than many others. It quickly heats up and can easily melt paint. I use it to warm up paint spray cans, and the built-in stand is ideal for this. It is something that I would suggest.

After a few uses, it no longer heats up / it was replaced
3/5

This gun has been in my possession for 14 months, but I have only used it a few times to shrink heat wrap on electric connections. The gun's motor ran the last time I tried it, but it didn't produce any heat. I took it to a repair shop, and they confirmed that the motor is operational but that there is no heat. There is also no way to repair it because this tool has no replacement parts. When I contacted Dewalt, they informed me that I had a one-year replacement warranty as well as a three-year defect warranty. I stated that this heat gun is defective, and they stated that it cannot be repaired because there are no parts to replace, and that it cannot be replaced because you have owned it for more than a year. You get my drift. They seem to be circling me. The warranty period of three years is a farce. According to the repair center, if your Dewalt tool breaks after a year, you're out of luck. They claimed that among the tool manufacturers they repair, Dewalt has the worst warranty service. I've always used Dewalt tools, but this experience has opened my eyes to the fact that while they are good at marketing, they don't stand behind their products. 11/6 - br>br>11/6 - br>br>11/6 - br>br> I recently received a new Dewalt heat gun, which I was told could not be replaced or repaired because I had owned it for 14 months. I'm not sure what changed, but THANK YOU, Dewalt, for acting responsibly. I was relieved to receive my Dewalt heat gun back after replacing it with a Wagner that did not perform as well.

If you're looking for a non-alcoholic beverage, this is an excellent option
4/5

The setting is industrial. I bought this to replace some golf club shafts, according to Regis Staley's review. Unfortunately, this did not work on my old Ping ISK beryllium nickel clubs, because not only is the metal unusual, but Ping also used some kind of secret aircraft epoxy back then. It took a long time for my torch, which I eventually used, to pop that joint. So, if I were going to a club on a regular basis, I'd choose a mega-club. industrial heat gun that is extremely hot I've used them in an auto repair shop, and they're well worth the high price, even if they don't last indefinitely. There is no such thing as a heat gun. It is possible to repair the more expensive industrial ones. br>br>The DeWalt is well-made, and I thought the price/performance ratio was reasonable. The two nozzles that come with the kit are very useful. It heats up quickly and should be sufficient for most heat gun tasks. The support is functional. br>br>At long last, I'll be able to put my antique glowing electric paint stripper to rest. That is a nasty creature. It was inherited and was probably 60-70 years old when it caught fire. Even at the age of 70, he continued to work. I believe it will take more than a few Chinese heat guns to get us through that time, but there are advantages.

Tough with a heat setting that can be changed
5/5

This was purchased as a means of securing my residence- made lip balm tubes with heat-resistant materials wrappers for shrinking Furthermore, I chose the Dewalt D26950 because it has a granularly adjustable temperature range via the large black dial on the back, as well as "Hi" and "Lo" fan speed settings via a rocker switch "trigger," if you will. I haven't taken a thermometer to the output to measure exact temperatures, but my anecdotal testing has revealed that the adjustability is sufficient for my needs! br>br>I adore the design, especially the small details such as the hanging loop on the cord and the extendible feet on each side of the cord for laying it down on a bench. The cord is durable and long enough for most domestic and commercial applications. It also comes with a few different heat spreader tips.

For different reasons, my fiance and I both wanted a heat gun. I enjoy making candles, and a heat gun is one of the tools that is recommended. He needed one for a variety of household projects. This was a fantastic find that met both of our requirements!.
