Questions & Answers

The solution becomes crystallized and chunky after a few days. Is there anything wrong with my technique?

It is unclear. The crystallized parts of mine only formed when left uncapped or in the open air for extended periods of time. Is might be a bad idea to start with if its just a few days. I would suggest requesting a refund or placing a new order and seeing what happens.

Is there a set amount of this that we must use on the tip of the ORP meter? Isn't it just as simple as pouring some into the basin where the tip will slide?

HI. Well Hanna says not to store your meter in that cap for whatever reason i don't know. I use the little packets that come with the meter to store mine in and I only cover the electrode. I replace every week or so.

There is most likely a clear answer here, but I wanted to be sure the Oakton pH meter be used with this storage solution? The price of this is significantly lower. ?

One thing I noticed when I used it was that when I stored it, I got crusty on it, so now just store mine in ph 4 or 7 solution, and use the cleanin solution once a week on it. I wonder if this will work for your meter too?

I like it. As the electrode must never go dry, I store it in this to maintain its quality in between uses. The electrode should be prepared for calibration if it is not used for a long time and is allowed to dry out. Soak it in the solution for about an hour, This is not a big deal. The electrode will begin to mold and grow bacteria in solution after awhile, so I find that rinsing it in between uses helps to minimize this.

For storing auto titration electrodes, you will need this solution.

Lab chemicals reagents will also require this solution. For the same reason that HP/other brands of printers do when it comes time to replace lab supplies (like the printer example) the manufacturer gets the consumer to pay more when the time comes. (Toner cartridges, ink cartridges, special photo papers). Here's a Hanna OEM replacement part that works just like the original. of Hanna replacement reagents/suppliers is fine, however I wish they could be at least 50% lower in price. It took Amazon a little while to ship the order.
