It is possible, but you will need a way of switching the power on and off so that once the solenoid is turned off, the device on the other side returns to normal. Using my example there is a pneumatic ram on the other side of mine, so if the solenoid were to be powered all the time the ram would always be extended. In mine, I use a relay to toggle the power on and off, but you could use a simple switch instead, as long as someone is able to turn the switch on and off.

You will find this as easy to use if you are used to electrical relays and micro switches with C NO NC. Between each vent there is a port called A NO is located at the bottom, while a NC is located at the top. As can be seen in the wiring displayed, the robotic system is heavily grounded to the Earth. Seeing as this was installed on a truck, I only used the B+ and Neg connections. They used their RED wire as a positive, their blue wire as a negative, and I omitted the green wire. There is no doubt it makes sounds when in use, but when not in use you can hear it blowing air. The noise is still there after putting Teflon tape on and removing it again a couple times.
