What is its normal state? Can it open or can it close normally?

There are three ports, so it depends how you use them. My settings are as follows (#1 is closed until it is energized) My turbo housing is #3 (pressure supply), #2 directs to the bottom of the wastegate, and #1 is for With this configuration, my boost level will be the same as far as the valve is concerned if I do not command it to do anything.

Is there a 1/4 inch NPT opening in this unit?

The MAC valves I have are both from Grimspeed, one a $120 version from Grimspeed. I've added this one to the open loop in parallel so I can regulate it independently. The boost is doing its work so far, at 60% duty I'm getting an additional 4 psi of boost. I've read in many reviews that this is probably a knock off and maybe leaking under boost, myself included, but at this price I can't complain.
