As well as not being rated for natural gas, this is a solenoid valve, not a ball valve. Asco has a combustion series of valves that would be a good alternative to a ball valve if you are willing to use a solenoid.

It is stated in the product description for this part number that the coil operates at 110 volts/60 In the delivered configuration, the coil will be operating at 24 volts DC. Although the coil that came with the new unit is slightly stronger than the coil on the bad valve I was replacing, it was on the bad valve I was replacing. It will be interesting to see how.
