Rubber parts become hardened as a result of the alcohol in the fuel. It was a simple matter of replacing the needle valve. The old one appeared to be in good condition, but a fingernail test revealed it to be rock hard.
It was installed in a Honda EU2000i and worked flawlessly.
I put this needle in the same day I got it, and it seemed to work. However; The following morning, there was a small puddle of gas on the floor, and the deck was completely soaked! The shop smelled like it was filled with gas. A fuel line shut-off is available from Honda. off, which must now be used I've been working on small engines for nearly 40 years and haven't encountered this issue very often. The item was listed as "OEM," but it turned out to be Stens, as I recall. I've had no problems with that brand in the past, but not with carb needles. I won't do it again!.
