Except for the rod handle (steel), I ordered the same part, and it shows no signs of lead in its construction because the unit is primarily brass. It's possible that it's a result of the production process. If you're still worried, you can wash the unit with soap and water to remove any surface contamination from the manufacturing process.

At this time, it hasn't been put to the test. The valve appears to be of good quality, with proper construction. The purpose of this purchase was to control the flow of water into the ice maker. A word of caution. After removing the old valve from the saddle that is clamped to the water line, I discovered the thread on the old valve is NPSM rather than NPT. As a result, there will be no installation of the new valve. I couldn't find a valve with the right thread, so I had to reinstall the old one and use the input line's water shutoff.
