I mounted it upside down, with the cap in the middle serving as the return line. Your inlet and exit pipes provide support, and using the middle exit rather than the side allows you to go straight down. I hope you found this information useful.
It works well for me at a distance of about thirty feet, give or take.

On our secondary water system, we installed this. It does a fantastic job. It's bigger than I anticipated, which is ideal for a filter system. It's simple to set up and use. It could use some improvements in terms of instructions, but it's fairly self-explanatory. I'll buy another for a different system I own.
In terms of pressure, flow, and filtration, this beast filters water for my sprinklers better than any other filter I've used before. I'm glad I was able to obtain it.
I use this filter to irrigate my garden with river water. Sprinklers are no longer clogged, and it's simple to clean. I currently run a pump at around 70 gpm, which is nowhere near the filter's 130 gpm capacity, but it has saved me hours of time in dealing with sediment problems.
