Questions & Answers

Is the orientation of the object important (does it have to be upright)?

Hello, br>the strainers can be positioned in any direction.

Is it possible to replace the Y strainer with this?

Yes, I previously used a Y strainer before switching to this one. I use it to filter sap to make maple syrup, and it's by far the best option.

How big is the basket's inside diameter?

1.25 inches on the inside. 87"

Is this product up to the task of catching lint from a washing machine discharge?

I haven't decided yet. I imagine you'd have to clean the mesh after every load, based on the few times I've let my washing machine drain to my grass. The amount of lint that comes out of the washer is likely to vary a lot.

This is a time saver! I connected the filter to my water hose that feeds my RV water tank with male and female hose adapters
5/5

Because the RV has been parked for a long time, The water line from the well grows mold in it between fill-ups while we're building our house. Using only a screened washer guarantees that it will quickly clog and that the tank will not fill. The solution was to unscrew the waterline, turn on the water, and flush the hose clean of the majority of the accumulated green growth before re-attaching it. Fasten the waterline and keep an eye on it for any growth that breaks free and clogs the screen, then repeat the cleaning and flushing process. I purchased this filter in order to remove the growth without having to disconnect the water line and flush it out. Before trying to fill the RV tank again, I waited an extra week to allow the hose to grow more green growth. When I ran the water, I noticed that the inner screen was darkening due to the accumulation of algae. I checked it several times to see how long I could go before the water flow was interrupted by algae clogging the screen and cutting off the water supply. Even after becoming nearly completely clogged with algae, the filter continued to let water through, which made me very happy. When compared to a simple screened washer that is easily clogged and completely stops the water from flowing, the filter screen has a larger surface area and allows water to pass through even when the waterflow is restricted. It's also fantastic that emptying the algae is now as simple as unscrewing the filter bowl, dumping the algae, and reattaching it. Instead of the old 3-minute procedure, it now takes only 15 seconds. Before the tank filled up, I had to repeat the operation (and monitor it) at least three times. My only criticism is that the mounting tabs are located in the center of the cap, making it difficult to locate a suitable mounting location without fabricating a mounting system.

Reduces the amount of time required to maintain the sprinkler system
5/5

We use well water, and the filter isn't changed nearly as frequently as it should be. This wreaks havoc on the sprinkler system, which leaks even if a small piece of grit gets caught in the diaphragm area. There have been no leaks in the system. After putting this strainer in place, you will be completely free. It should quickly pay for itself in terms of savings on sprinkler system parts. (Even if I'm the one who is doing the labor). br>The one I got leaked a little at first, even though I tightened it as tight as I could by hand; if you have the same problem, apply a thin film of silicon grease to the mating surface(s) and that should solve it.

It was good at first
3/5

This was fantastic. I bought a total of ten of them. Two caps were broken at the same time. And six of them, which were sitting on the suction line inside a tank, came loose. As the pumps sucked air, they overheated and melted the fitting. As a result, there has been a significant amount of effort. I wish I could get my money back in full, but I'm currently on vacation in the Caribbean.

It performs admirably for the purpose for which it was created
4/5

The screen is well made, but it is too fine for my use as a raw seawater screen for a bait well. Plant life and sand clog the system quickly. I fixed the problem by drilling 1/8" holes in the screen; it now works perfectly; a coarser screen option would be ideal.

What I was looking for
5/5

Exactly what was required was accomplished. It was exactly what I needed for a recirculating livewell system on a fishing boat, and it worked perfectly. The strainer was a good size, and I filled the middle chamber with granular carbon filter media in a bag. It was a success. It was difficult to find good male fittings to connect to it.

However, it worked perfectly for more than three years prior to the housing split
3/5

The filter housing had cracked after two years of use. Unfortunately, it flooded my cabin on the inside. From the screw threads down, it splintered vertically. Every three months, I clean the housing by turning it on and off. I've never gone any tighter than a hand's grip. However, the last time I had to work really hard to stop a seep/leak at the threads, I had to use all of my strength. Unfortunately, the hard umph was too much for the plastic housing, and it split about a month later! I'd give it a lower rating, but it served me well for more than three years prior to the housing split. But I like it so much that I'm going to order another one. Just be careful not to overtighten it.

It's ideal for use with a pressure washer rig
5/5

Filter is of good quality. Using a large storage tank to supply pressure washer on my pressure washer supply line This filter will prevent sand, sediment, and any algea that grows in the tank from clogging up my pump and causing major issues. It is much easier to maintain a clean body. I would purchase this item again. Will most likely purchase another to filter water from the municipal water supply.
