I usually use dielectric grease before applying the heat shrink butt connector. shrink it, then place another shrinking sleeve over the splice or repair I just completed. I recently had to repair the wiring g harness on my Peterbilt tractor and used the exact same procedure as described above. I had a load to run to Colorado, which was a happy coincidence. They were buried in snow, but all of my connections held up admirably. It took me an eternity (because I did everything correctly and soldered all the wires before sleeving), but the quality results were well worth it!.
This is the second time I've ordered these connectors because I was so pleased with the first. This time, I chose this brand based on price, and I'm not happy with it. I'm using a crafting heat gun (which worked fine on the other ones) and these things still won't melt after about 2 minutes of direct heat, so I had to pinch the solder and now I'm having issues with bad connections that are driving me insane. Very let down.
Wire connection is excellent. I use a heat gun to apply even heat. The white band that shrinks and glues wire into the connector until the solder melts and cools is one of my favorite features. I've tried a few of these and haven't been disappointed by any of them. I strongly suggest it.
It does what it's supposed to do. The metal in the middle has a good melting point. I simply used a small heat gun for crafts. They came in handy when I was working on the wiring for my boat. I usually go over everything with shrink tubing for extra protection and to keep things looking uniform.
Gives a strong, water-resistant connection that won't come undone in most situations. The only disadvantage is that they are not resistant to gasoline.
These are fantastic; they give my connections a professional appearance!.
Easy to put together, shrink tubing, and solder All-in-one glue for a strong bond. This is the most common size that I use.
These are extremely quick and simple to use.
