Questions & Answers
They are packaged in a low-cost plastic box with compartments, but it is not as good as a Plano box.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. You should use a heat gun with these connectors if possible. A lighter or a blowtorch, on the other hand, would be sufficient. Thank you very much.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. When the ends of the wire are heat shrunk to the wire, the connection is watertight. If you're going to be outside, I'd recommend using a few rounds of electrical tape to be safe and durable.

Not so much with the case that came with it. This is a great way to get a few hundred butt slice connectors for low-voltage wiring such as trailer lighting. They crimp securely, the material heat shrinks around the wires, and the inside of the plastic has a thermoset glue that bonds to the wire insulation to waterproof the joint, making them ideal for trailer undercarriage wiring: )br>br>The only complaint is that the included storage container is of poor quality. The latch on our pack was broken when it arrived. Inside, all of the connectors were in good working order, but one latch was completely missing. Because the broken part was not even inside the shrink wrap that kept the kit sealed, it appears to have been shipped that way from the factory: ) While I was more interested in the connectors than the storage, shipping a set with a broken storage case to Amazon for order fulfillment is a blemish on quality control. I have another container that fits my tool bag, so I'm not reliant on the one that came with it, but it's still nice to have.
I'm not sure what the number one means. Dude, you need to explain what a five-star review is all about. br>br>Of the 18-piece set, I only used about 30. To fix a transmission wiring harness, use 22 gauge butt splices. They did an excellent job. The ferrules are noticeably thicker than the connectors that came with the new plugs, and the glue appears to cover the ferrules well without leaving a mess. br>br>I'm glad I still have 150 pieces left over for future projects.
For the price, these appear to be of excellent quality. They're made of copper that has been plated. I dissected one to test it; at first glance, they appeared to be made of aluminum, but they shrank down nicely. On the packaging, there are a few classic typos about which gauge goes in which hole, but the butt splices are correct. When I'm out of these, I'll definitely buy more.
Although it appears to be a good product, when crimping smaller wires, it does not stay in place securely. The red connectors claim to crimp down to 22 gauge wire, but anything smaller than 18 gauge will slide out. I can't get them to hold even when I use two different crimpers. The metal is very soft, whereas I have other crimp style connectors with a stiff metal interior that can easily hold 22ga wire. The only positive aspect of these connectors is that they can be heat shrunk, but they lack the holding power I require, so they belong in the trash in my opinion.
These heat shield butt connectors do a fantastic job. They're water-resistant and can be used in the outdoors, on the water, or in the car. This type of connector is frequently used by my husband. He claims they shrink to the perfect size for a waterproof connection, which he says he uses frequently on our boat. He should be able to use this box of 200 for quite a while.
The plastic shrink coating was punched through by the tip. This has never happened before with any other type of crimp connector. The holes completely defeat the purpose of this type of connector, which is to prevent corrosion, as well as the possibility of a short circuit. It was a complete waste of money. Spend a little more on a reputable brand.
The butt connector's shrink tube is effective. I gave it a 3 because the shrink tube on the inside appears to be larger than the metal sleeve, as if the manufacturer cut corners on the metal sleeve. All of the Butts I've used have longer crimping sleeves, whereas this product only has short crimping sleeves.
They are easy to crimp and the wire fits perfectly inside them. After applying heat to them, the heat shrink shrinks down and seals tight to the wire. I've used these on a boat trailer to replace the lighting and they seem to keep the water out with no problems so far.
