This LED matrix is very pleasing to the eye, because its build quality is excellent and its packaging is attractive. Only RED color LED's are present in the two I received. I'm not sure what colors to expect, but It has been a great experience purchasing products from keystudios so far. I have purchased five items so far and all have been excellent. Despite this, however. Please be aware The product reviews for keystudio have a total of 8 as of this date (1/20/2016). The same 8 reviews appear for every product no matter what its rating. The text in every review is exactly the same. It means that the reviews have been planted by keystudio or on their orders. A lack of integrity and a lack of respect for all customers are evident in this behavior. It is hard to trust them because of this.
AVR is advertised as being compatible with it, but you will have to write any code needed for it This driver is for the Holtek HT16K33 controller. I felt that the documentation on the Keyestudio site was lacking as some of the links, including one to the datasheet, were broken. A RECENT UPDATE In the event that anything changes in my review, I will update it.
On the breadboard, it looks as if power is going to GND but it isn't. Once the wires were fixed, it worked perfectly. After I noticed the chip had gotten hot enough, I could smell something was wrong (and burn my finger). The whole experience was very pleasant Something like this will usually become permanently fried if a cross wire is used. That's why it gets 5 stars from me! This software is packed with.
In other words, My programming skills are not new, it's just that I'm new to arduino and electronics. It was confusing to use the wiki that was included. You are given a simple example of an animated diagonal line, but you are not explained why you are setting anything or even how to simply set one.
It has likely already been discussed in an earlier review, but I will mention it once again just to be sure. Fortunately, I only had to change my code because the address wasn't critical for my application. The rest of the time, they are great and I would have given them 5 stars but for their ID issue.
I have no idea how to daisychain these, and there is no support. There is no information on their website, and not even much information online.
Everything else is fine. On time delivery. A very useful component to have as a starting point for a project.
It was very helpful to have a link to the Youtube video in the description. An added bonus was that the matrix was already attached to the backpack, so it wasn't necessary for me.
