The key is in the front, and the access is in the back.

Yes. A lock/unlock button is located on the opposite side.

Is it possible to lock the lock from within?

The option to leave is always available. Only use the key on the outside. You seem to be looking for an intruder lock for a classroom.

The following day will not be shipped! This is the second of two that I've ordered

It said I'd have both of them the next business day if I ordered through Prime. The door handles were delivered after an 8-day wait. I was able to easily install the handles because they were easy to find. However, the supplier (rather than UPS) was to blame for the shipping issue.
