You could give it a shot; the harness (on ours) comes off. We had to make use of the entire unit.

This controller is for the vh410 system, which employs the s140rl-based S140rl-based S140rl-based S140rl-based S140r uv lamp with a lot of uv. According to the photo of the controller, it is for the s740rl- What is the name of the lamp you're referring to?

As I recall, there were inconsistencies between the picture and the actual description. The controller performs exactly as it should. I placed my order and confirmed it based on the description rather than the image.
