What is the location of this attachment?

Ideally, after a particulate-removal water filtration system, so that the UV light can make maximum contact with any remaining organisms in the water. Because its effective flow is only 3 GPM, which is about the same as a single low flow shower, this unit is not suitable for use as a whole house system, but it should suffice for a RV or boat. Any flow higher than that reduces the effectiveness of sterilization.

Is it possible for water to flow in any direction?

When should these lights be replaced? How long are they supposed to last?

They last for a year before needing to be replaced as their efficiency deteriorates. As stated in the instruction manual.

Do you have any versions that run on 12 volts DC? Is there a way to increase the flow rate?

Yes, both the S5Q- and the S5Q-A are available. The S2Q-P and the P/12VDC P/12VDC are 12VDC versions that can be found on Amazon.

Even though we have 70 psi water pressure, I've tried others that leak and this one does not.

Right out of the box, I was able to install the unit. It's very easy to set up. Everything is in order. Within one hour of operation, the bacteria count in our holding tank was zero. I bought a second unit for another holding tank and am planning to buy a third for yet another. I like the idea of replacing only the UV bulb once a year rather than the entire unit, which is what we've been doing. With this unit, we are certain to save money.
