Questions & Answers

Is it possible to get rid of the pin?

Yes, they can be removed, but these are the most difficult pins I've ever removed from a door hinge. To begin, you'll need a punch and a hammer. They're stuffed with a greasy substance.

I'm curious about the manufacturing location of this item. ?

China. I purchased three black boxes, each of which was poorly painted. The tops of the pins were scratched and missing paint, giving them a discolored appearance. They were handed back to me.

Is it possible to use these in the outdoors?

No, it isn't designed to be used outside.

How can I photograph and send you a picture of a storm door hinge that I can't find?

Make use of your phone.

Agree: A lack of quality control
3/5

I recently purchased three of them. There were 18 packs in total, and all three boxes had the same issues, which I believe Amazon (and you) should be aware of. Perhaps the China vendor has changed, or their manufacturing process needs to be investigated and updated, especially if Amazon wants to keep its good name on the boxes. My family happily purchases Amazon Basic products, but this one falls short. I bought based on the high number of positive reviews, and in this case, a picture isn't worth a thousand words. Sorry for the inconvenience, Amazon. Please investigate this. There was a shift.
1. This isn't matte black, as some have suggested. It has a satin or eggshell finish to it. If that was the only problem, it would be fine.
2. Some of the hinges have scratches on them.
3. EVERY single one of the 54 hinges I bought has a discolored top pin. If you look at the image I provided, you'll notice that it doesn't appear to be completely painted; almost as if it were an oil The color bronze. I mistakenly believed there was a plastic protective cover on top and attempted to remove it. There weren't any, of course. It's a shoddy job on the paint.
4. The majority of the screws are also poorly painted, giving them a scratched appearance. Even though it isn't critical, only the screw heads were attempted to be painted correctly. The majority of vendors display fully painted screws, demonstrating a higher level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
5. You'll notice a small bump out on the upper left-hand side of the Amazon image or mine if you zoom in. on the right-hand side of the hinge This isn't a problem, but it does demonstrate that the jig or tool used to make these needs to be updated in order to improve quality. br>I would keep these if I didn't want to buy black metal paint and paint the tops of all the pins and most of the screw heads after installation. br>I would keep these if I didn't want to buy black metal paint and paint the tops of all the pins and most of the screw heads after installation. br>I would keep these if I didn't want to buy black metal paint and paint the tops of all the pins and most of the screw heads after That, however, is just my opinion. I'm going to give them back to you. Others on the site are similar in price or slightly more expensive. The manufacturer's embossed label can be found on the lower-priced ones. In my house, I don't want to advertise hinges! Best of luck!.

But them
4/5

Then enjoy yourself! These are fantastic and make the process of transitioning your home from the 1990s to the 2000s a breeze. campy- gold- In a flash, you can go from dingy to ultra-luxurious. Because they're so inexpensive, we paired them with matte black Kwikset Halifax levers (door knobs). Despite the fact that these hinges are not matte, they are a perfect match. They're as smooth as butter when it comes to opening/closing. They were incredibly simple to set up. Tips: br>br>
- Spend a little extra money on a cheap rechargeable screwdriver.
- Begin by replacing the middle hinge, then the bottom, and finally the topbr>- REMOVE ONE HINGE AT A TIME, NOT ALL OF THEM AT ONCE. Trust me. Put a wager on it with your partner. In less than 2 hours, you can complete all of the doors on your own. Collect on your bet if you finish in 1h 25 min (finish times are based on approx. 5 minutes per door, for a total of 17 doors per house).

NOT a black that is completely flat
3/5

What a dreadful crackle!   These Amazon Basics hinges have let me down so far. These aren't matte black; they're glossy. After much searching and frustration, I discovered an affordable alternative that is still significantly less expensive than big box stores. They're Hager black hinges (available on Amazon from a variety of sellers in various quantities). Comparing Amazon Basics Matte Black hinges to Hager Black hinges -

- Hager is a true flat black, whereas Amazon is a glossy black. br>- Hager screws are all black, while Amazon screws are silver with painted black tops. br>- Hager is unsealed and makes no noise when he moves. Amazon is greased and makes a crackling sound (which is unsettling, especially if you have four hinges on each door). Squeaking isn't even close to it! This isn't a flat black hinge (see video)br>br>If you're looking for one, look elsewhere. Look for Hager hinges, which are manufactured by a professional hinge maker. I adore Amazon, but these aren't one of my favorites.

Pick the Kessler ones instead of the Amazon ones
3/5

Do yourself a favor and avoid purchasing these because I've noticed that a few of my doors aren't closing properly, as if the alignment is off. When the hinges opened and closed, I heard a sticky snapping noise. After reading other reviews on this site, one user suggested that I replace these with Kessler ones, which I did, and the doors now close properly and the noises have gone away. Although I couldn't find the Kessler ones in pure black like these, the brushed bronze appears to be a close match. In terms of value, I'm usually a fan of Amazon brands, but this one left me cold.

It's a fantastic deal! These were purchased to replace the gaudy gold hinges that screamed 1990s
5/5

They were packaged separately to avoid being scratched. They're well-made, durable, and incredibly simple to put together. They're also not too dark, and they go perfectly with the rubbed bronze door knobs we purchased separately. They're a perfect fit and a million times better than the gold ones! They are exactly as pictured and described, and they arrived on time.

The hinge is nice, but the screws are useless
4/5

These hinges appear to be in good condition and function properly, but The screws are completely useless. They're too small and frail. They rip open the door and the door frame with ease. To get the right screws, I had to go to Home Depot. This method was still less expensive than purchasing hinges from HD, Lowes, or Menards.

These hinges came in a box, wrapped individually in mini plastic bags, and delivered to my house with flaws
3/5

I noticed that all of the items were scratched when I examined them. Some of the scratches were more severe than others. In addition, opening and closing them felt very stiff. I'm not sure if this will get better with use. They are well-balanced and appear to be quite durable. If you don't mind the numerous scratches, they may be acceptable for the price. When I buy something new, I want everything to be in working order. All of the scratches are disappointing to me.

Why do they crackle at such a low price? These are half the price of what a hardware store would sell them for
4/5

It saves a lot of money when replacing a large number of hinges! The oil bronze finish is attractive, and the screw size is adequate, but my pack was missing nine screws! I didn't count at first, so I didn't notice until the very last door. The noise they make when you open or close a door is the WORST part about them! It doesn't even sound like a squeak--it sounds like some kind of glue. It irritates me. I'm hoping that a little grease will help. In general, the price is reasonable.
