Questions & Answers

I'm not sure what to make of it because the package says 10 with a circle next to it. Despite the fact that the disc is 6 inches in diameter, What does the package's 10 | o stand for?

Despite the fact that the box says 10, this is only one (1) disc, as shown in the image. I was irritated, but that's life.

I was given a number of these sanding discs. Is it necessary to use a 1500 grit disc before using the 3000 grit disc for any purpose?

This works well for removing 1500-2000 pounds of debris. Sand scratches with a 2000 grit sandpaper, as well as any other minor scratches in your clear coat. To restore the shine, use Rubbing Compound and Scratch Remover Polish after using the 3000 grit.

Is it possible to use this to make a clear coat appear matte by dulling it?

I'm not sure if a matte clear coat would be appropriate. The 3000 grit polishes steel to a brilliant sheen.

Is there a hook and loop backing on this?

A rubber backing is included. When wet, it holds up well.

It was an excellent solution
5/5

To remove scratches from my 2017 Malibu and 2014 Silverado, I used this 3000 grit in conjunction with a 5000 grit. I was able to completely remove scratches caused by the magnetic base of a CB antenna and restore the clear coat, as you can see in the photos. This was achieved by sanding the area after spraying it with soapy water (aka: wet- sand). After removing the scratches from the trunk, I moved on to my Silverado, which was covered in brush scratches. I was in a position to wet-suit myself. sand and polish away every scratch on every panel of the truck, only using about a quarter of the 3000 grit sandpaper, and the 5000 grit sandpaper showing no signs of wear. For the price, this is an excellent product. Finally, I'd like to point out that sandpaper was not the final step in this process! To complete the project, you'll need scratch remover and polish.

These are fantastic for strops
5/5

Many people believe they don't because of the give, but I sharpen my own knives by hand with a convex edge, and these make excellent strops. Either one will even out the bevel, give it a nice smooth appearance, hide most irregularities from hand sharpening, and provide a great base to strop higher for a mirror polish, or leave it as is for kitchen or bushcraft knives that like a little more "bite" to their edge. I'm going to buy more and figure out how to mount them on a base in a waterproof way so I can use their entire surface. br>br>Because these are Silicon Carbide, they can cut almost any type of steel, though it's best to keep them wet when using them, and they polish things up to the grit rating's perfection. I'm overjoyed, and the price makes these items even better. I've stropped seven knives at least twice each, and the sheet is only lightly marked. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative They will load up if you bend, move, or use them as sandpaper in any way. I suspect that the opening of the sponge material beneath one rounding created gaps between the Trizact particles, but this is only a guess. If you're going to use these as strops, make sure to lay them flat and rinse them before using them. Aside from that, they're great for convex edges and are light on flat grinds. br>br> I grabbed my Cold Steel Barong machete and moved it from 300-400 yards away. grit for the paper Only these two pieces require sharp cutting. They clung to the convex bevel like it was a sexy object and polished it up nicely in one of the most impressive and time-saving applications I've seen. I strongly advise you to use these items for whatever purpose you may have in mind; they are truly fantastic.

3C's
4/5

Communicate, Make a Compromise, and Be Caring. 3M, could you please? Could you please reduce the price of these? I adore them, but I'm sure that's why you keep stepping on me. br>You make the best products, and I'll never take that away from you; all I ask is that you love me as much as I love you, and look at what's right in my palm: a palm sander. So let us work together as a team, as a union, to complete this journey. I'm afraid we'll have to part ways if you can't find a way to compromise.

It works well as a knife sharpening strop
5/5

I attached the pad to a small piece of pine board with rubber cement and use it as a strop to keep my knives razor sharp. It's a perfect solution. I haven't had to replace the pad yet, so I'm not sure how long it will last, but I've been using it for over a month and it's still working. To remove any darker metal buildup, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. br>br>I use it like a flat leather strop, but it's important to use light strokes and avoid compressing the foam backing. It does a fantastic job of smoothing out the edges. STROP PLANES OR CHISELS WITH IT. br>br>DO NOT USE IT TO STROP PLANES OR CHISELS. They'll lose their straight edges, which are required by law.

This is a must-have for that wandering shopping cart that is scratching your car! This is a popular car enthusiast's tool for removing clear coat scratches from your vehicle
5/5

When used in conjunction with some 5000, you can make almost any clear coat scratch look like an OEM paint job once more. This product allows you to sand the clear coat down without taking too much off and making things worse if you live in Miami, where people are all too eager to bump your ride with a car door or a shopping cart. It does a good enough job of removing or concealing the damage without causing new scratches that are impossible to remove. br>br>This is a must-have item. Without a doubt, another fantastic 3M product.

I found it to be extremely useful
5/5

I was doing some DIY detailing and decided to use 2000 grit on the roof of my car. It didn't have the same gleam as the rest of the vehicle. Those sand scratches were easily visible after compounding and polishing, much to my dismay. So, after doing some research, I discovered this. It will be well worth your time and effort. It's not just sandpaper with a 3000 grit rating. The foam back and paper composition did an excellent job of removing the scratches, and after compounding and polishing, the area now looks as good as the rest of the car. I guess I'll have to buy some more to finish the car.

Awesome! This is what I use to polish knives as well as for other purposes
5/5

Awesome! This is what I use to polish knives and sharpen their edges. Wow, I can't emphasize enough how well it serves this purpose. It does remove some metal, but not nearly as much as a stone would, but more than a leather strop would. It's built on a foam backing that appears to "hug" the edge. This means that when it comes to knife honing, the angle you use is far more forgiving. Even if my angle is slightly off, the foam automatically compensates due to the give; as for durability, it still looks brand new after 5 knives, both for edge honing and face polishing. This is something I will definitely buy again.

Scratch removal and polishing are separated by this product
5/5

My project is urethane clear coat for automobiles, which is a very tough surface that requires leveling and polishing. br>I needed something to bridge the gap between fine grit papers and the course slurries. br>This P3000 foam pad works well after 1500 grit paper but not before 2000 grit, so my 2000 paper is no longer useful. br>After the P3000, I use 3M super duty rubbing on a PC DA-driven cutting pad. br>After experimenting with a variety of methods, we discovered that this was the quickest way to go from scratch removal to polishing. br>Other advantages.
- Rugged. br>- One pad has lasted the duration of a car project. The 3M papers, on the other hand, have occasional coarse grains snucking into a fine grit field.
- The grit on the 3M papers varies across the width of the paper, whereas the result is uniform.
