The purpose of a composter is to dispose of organic waste. I have placed all kinds of kitchen scraps in mine. If you have not read the instructions, be sure to check out what will work best. There are some scraps I will not add to the compost due to the rodents and animals that might be attracted to the smell. I have included egg shells and other garden produce scraps There are plenty of resources online that will let you know what to put in your composter.
If you see larvae of Black soldier fly (yes, aka maggots), that is likely the reason. Composting will be made so much easier with these and the process will be greatly accelerated. In the event they pupate and hatch, the flies are unlike house flies or horse flies and should not bother you. So, you might be lucky to find someone who actually wants to buy black soldier fly larvae! It could kill them, however, if they tumble down This is a real When you have chickens, make sure to take care of them I am sure they will feel as if

Make sure you read before you assemble! To start, I would like to say that I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing and especially before assembling The overall structure is called "flimsy" by many reviewers, and I agree with this. It is basically the little yellow and green clips that connect the panels that are the cause of this. My solution to this was to replace those clips with hose brackets, which are 10000 times stronger than When I assembled the barrel, I wish I had considered this before I put the pieces together, as it is much more difficult to retrofit it after it has been The clips you use to put this together can be substituted for magnets, making assembling In terms of the long run, I am not sure if this will work or if I will need to add straps or other I'm certain, though, that this little change was enough to greatly improve the overall stiffness of the As for the brackets, they are very cheap at 80 cents each, and btw, you will need 12. It would be wise to do this before you use the barrel and preferably while it is on the table.
The instructions were in the form of petroglyphs, which made assembling easy. You could even get Donald Trump to do this!.
There is no need to pump up the speed when spinning this composter. It is also worth noting that I have another composter (different brand) that has a manual hand crank and I still prefer this one. Often when using the hand crank type, it jams and can be difficult to get it started. There is a small model on this page. My other composting system is still decomposing, so I'm not sure if I can get six to twelve months' worth of compost in this. For anyone considering this, it is important that you purchase the larger unit if you are going to include yard waste along with your food waste. You should also consider purchasing two so that you can stop adding to one while it is decomposing for 6 to 12 months.
I didn't know it was so much The instructions were very easy to follow (my teen daughter put it together). The composting process has been in existence for years, but we needed to downsize and improve it. As much as I love being able to move this as I like it. It will keep small animals away from it because it will be off the ground. It's large enough to put a bit of yard waste in it, but most of the time (size-wise) it could contain food waste. I can pretend I'm on a composting game show when I spin it!.
As of right now, we are still in the process of composting the current batch of fertilizer, which may take a little while with the current temperatures. It leaks most of the time, which is my biggest complaint. I don't see it as much as a concern now because we put a box of leaves on the bottom, but I have a feeling we'll have to reinforce the bottom with sealant in the fall when warmer weather hits.
The parts of the assembly would not fit We tussled a bit with the end drum panel, but it sort of stayed together in the end. I kept loading it with ingredients for my compost until I was ready to use it. The wheel not only fell out after a few spins, but the bars that break up compacted stuff (they are a joke) fell out too. There is also no "Miracle Grow" insignia anywhere to be seen.
I recommend it for people living in small apartments and gardens in the city. Strong and of good design, it would be a good addition to any home. There was a problem with one of the corners of the six piece 'barrel' not aligning properly and I had to trim it to get it to fit. Aside from that, nothing else to complain about. It will be exciting to get my hands on my first load of compost in the.
All my expectations were met by this product. Due to the vent system, small particles flutter out when I spin the machine. The plastic cement bin underneath was used to catch flyaways and keep the deck clean since I wanted to keep it on the deck. I intend to line the bottom of the cement bin with soil as soon as the weather warms up. As well as placing it on a dolly, I was able to move it into the sunshine in case I needed to.
