That's what I think! The separator is simply pushed into place, so you can leave it out of the composter when putting it together if you prefer.
Not in the least. There are two sides to every story. For about three weeks, I added materials, food scraps, and other items every day. Then I started adding to the other side, which should be ready for the garden in about a week, and then I'm not throwing scraps away because I'm alternating sides.
More of the brown stuff.

This is my first compost tumbler, and I'm really excited about it! There are a lot of screws to put together, but I was able to do it without cursing or needing a drink, so believe in yourself! The only piece that doesn't fit squarely/completely is the divider between the two compartments, though I'm not sure if that was the intention? I wish it had two features that I didn't notice when I bought it: 1. When I open the tumbler to add items, I need a stop/pin to keep it from spinning, and 2. ) a drain/plug that would allow me to get compost "tea" to fertilize the plants while the compost decomposes. However, I believe the Vivosun Tumbling Composter will be an excellent "starter" composter for me, and I am looking forward to frightening my gardening neighbors with my new gloves!.
TACKS MADE OF BRASS br>Overall, a good value for money product. br>br>PROS: • Once assembled, of good quality. br>• While the plastic is thinner than I expected (it's about the same thickness as a gas can), it's a good combination of strength and flexibility, making the composter easier to move around when empty. • Tumbles easily because it spins smoothly. • Included enough nuts and bolts, as well as extras, to complete the assembly. • The included claw gloves and a flipping phillips/standard screwdriver are surprisingly useful. CONS: br>br> br>• As many other reviews have stated, assembly requires a Master's degree in engineering, as well as the help of a mechanically-inclined person. months of follow-up on an inclined circus hamster up psychotherapy, and a lot more than the 20 minutes mentioned in a few reviews. The center divider was particularly difficult to keep in place during assembly, and in hindsight, I would have simply skipped it. • Screws and other parts are clearly lettered in the instructions, which is pointless because the bolts and other parts are all Chex Mixed into one unmarked bag and not referred to by letter in the terrible instructions. OTHER (these are just notes of things I'm not giving stars to, mostly for things I glossed over that are clearly stated in the item's description): • It's a little smaller than I anticipated - Examine the measurements to see if the size is appropriate for your requirements. • The doors are too small for easy compost emptying; they're also difficult to slide open/close, but that's not all bad because it keeps things from flying out while spinning. • Each panel of plastic is wrapped in an unnecessary large plastic bag; I'll never have to buy trash bags again, so this is a 'PRO' for me, but I'd prefer something more environmentally friendly. People who are friendly should think about it. • Instead of the symmetrical Left door, I got two identical doors. Pictured are the right doors; I don't mind, but others who receive two identical doors might not appreciate the 'two left feet' appearance. br>• A hitch pin or something to lock its spinning for loading/unloading compost would be nice. br>br>Despite all of the 'CONs' in my rambling essay, I give it 4/5 stars for being a good product at a good price, and it's been doing a great job of turning my leaves, veggie scraps, and coffee grounds into a nice mulch after only a few weeks.
I didn't have any problems putting it together, but it took me about two hours. There are 56 screws and nuts! I didn't have any problems putting it together, but it was VERY time consuming. This composter is beautiful and sturdy, so it's well worth the money. I'm excited to put it to use.
I thought I'd put it together as a challenge for my two daughters (ages 11 and 13). Their construction skills are primarily limited to LEGO and birdhouses. Except for the very last panel, where they simply didn't have long enough arms to reach in and hold the nut in place while screwing in the screw, I didn't offer any assistance. It took them about an hour to put it together, so anyone who claims it's difficult has obviously never hung their own pictures in their home. The screwdriver is included as well! The legs could be a little more sturdy, but they're still usable. It's been great for the past week as we've been loading it up. We can't wait for it to be ready to plant in the garden in a few months.
It was sturdy and spun easily, which I liked. The scraps-adding doors are small, making it difficult to remove the finished compost, and they are also difficult to open. br>While the assembly process isn't difficult, it is time consuming due to the 56 screws that must be installed. Because of the narrow doors, which are difficult to open, I would not recommend purchasing this.
I've been using this product for about a month and a half and I'm very happy with it. The composter was simple to put together (two people are required; a single person may struggle near the end of the process), and it was put to use right away. Turning the compost has never been easier, and as a result, I haven't had any issues with stinky compost like I did when I was using a different system (a DIY tumbler that apparently needed more ventilation holes). My composter hasn't been tested against critters yet, so I won't give an opinion on that. I recall reading about some leakage from other reviewers; I haven't had any problems with it, but I can see how it could happen if your compost is too wet. Finally, I liked the gloves that came with it; the concept is brilliant, but the size is too big for me to use. I'd say they're a size L or even XL for a man. In general, I'm happy with my purchase.
This composter comes in a slew of parts that must be assembled with small bolts and nuts; there are so many that it's easy to miss one or two, and getting to them once the composter is put together can be difficult. The bolt that connects the composter to the legs was missing two of the required nuts, but that was fine because I had a number in my toolbox. You'd have to go to the hardware store if that wasn't the case. Because not all of the bolts had been finely milled, some of them were rendered useless. Anyway, it's in my backyard now, and I'll have to wait three or four weeks to see if it composts.
