The item was purchased as an open box. In my opinion, we paid half the usual price, and it is definitely worth it at that level of price. The shelves are lighter weight, don't know if they are pine. The pipes are lighter weight, too, with some swivel adapters at some of their points. Overall, the kit looks amazing in our bathroom and can serve all our needs. I had no problems assembling it and it was very easy to follow. The fact that it is not a true industrial grade fixture does not disappoint, however it does have a uniquely industrial look. Although the original price is a bit high, the materials used in the shelf make up the shelves. A pipe wrench is handy, so if you are handy you can build it yourself for a much better result. In the event that you are only after the look, this may be just right for you as it was.
There is quite a bit of room on this shelf. The thing that is pictured here is just a recent addition to our home, and it may hold much more than what is shown here. We have not even finished loading it yet.
