Questions & Answers

What is the best way to keep the handlebars from falling to the side?

I recently ran into this issue. On the wall, the hanger was too low. br>Stand the bike up as if it were going to hang and take a vertical measurement from the floor to the front hub. br>After that, the hook should be about 6" higher on the rim (3 spoke openings up on my 27. 5"). br>The front wheel now sits in the channel after raising my hanger two hole patterns, or 5 1/2".

Is it up to par?

In my garage, I have my road bike chained to it. So, I guess it's all right. I did, however, follow the advice of other users and secure it to the wall with my own screws. I drilled a stud with 3 1/2" screws. Even if my house were to fall apart, the rack would remain intact!

Do you have one that allows you to hang your bike on the left side? Is it correct that the current one is from?

There's only one way to go about it. I don't think it makes a difference whether the wheel is hooked from the right or the left. Unless the issue is one of hand dominance, in which case it makes no difference as to how the bike hangs. I'm not sure if this responds to your inquiry.

Is it possible to put it on a block wall in a garage?

On a cinder block wall, to be precise. Sure. If you're handy, you could use an epoxy bolt with a threaded shank.

Others are correct in their assessments of the hardware
4/5

I'll admit that I didn't believe the other reviewers when they said the included hardware was junk. Because my studs were further apart than most, I grabbed a 2x10 board, hung it with lag bolts, and then mounted the mounts to the wood, as did many others. br>br>The screw heads broke off like they were made of plastic while I was using my drill to screw in the included hardware with predrilled holes. IMMEDIATELY THROW THE HARDWARE AWAY. It's the lowest-quality equipment I've ever seen. I read the reviews before hanging the mounts, but I ignored the warnings of others. Save time and effort by not having to re-drill holes. br>br>Aside from the terrible hardware, the mounts themselves appear to be well-made and will hold up well.

This is a fantastic way to keep your garage in order
5/5

I did a fantastic job organizing six bikes. I took some advice and mounted 1X10 plywood to the studs before putting the racks on top of it. I used my own hardware, despite the fact that the provided screws appeared to be adequate; I'll see how it holds up in the long run, but so far so good. Also, I'm 5'3" and it was simple to hang them up, but I'm not sure the kids will be able to do it.

Hangers with a lot of heft that do their job well
5/5

These hangers are sturdy and well constructed; I currently have four bikes hanging from them in my garage, and I plan to add a fifth as soon as the final hanger arrives tomorrow. The hooks haven't moved in a long time - As several reviewers have pointed out, the top screw (the one closest to the hook) is difficult to install because the hook prevents access with a screwdriver or electric drill. Instead of using the deck screws that came with the cleat, I drilled a pilot hole in it and then used a small hex head screw. Using a small wrench, I tightened the screw into place. BTW, I strongly advise against using the drywall anchors that have been provided. Instead, screw into a stud or a wall-mounted wooden cleat. br>br>In addition, as others have mentioned, the deck screws included in the package are cheap and made of soft metal. You'll have an easier time mounting these on the wall if you use higher-quality screws and drill pilot holes. My only criticism of these hangers is that if you use them to hang multiple bikes side by side, you'll need to leave enough space between them for a bike to be jockeyed to the right when putting it up or taking it down. You'll hit the bike next to the one you're moving as you hang or take it down if your bikes are hung too close together. I hang the bikes with the handlebars up and down, sixteen inches apart, on hangers that are sixteen inches apart. This is a bit of a squeeze, but it's doable. Overall, these hangers are well-made, and I appreciate how much more floor space they provide in my garage.

Because of the poor design, the most important screw is nearly impossible to reach with a drill
3/5

For these, I just finished filling out a return. However, there are a couple of fatal flaws in this design that rendered it completely useless (at least for me). br>br>First and foremost, as many other reviews have stated, the screws included are of poor quality. I tried to use them anyway, assuming that after all of the negative feedback, they must have improved. They haven't done so, to be sure. As a result, my wall now has a couple of twisted-off screws. Second, and even worse, the top screw (which is required to prevent the bike's weight from bending the hanger) is located in an area that is IMPOSSIBLE to drive in! This is due to the angle at which the metal hanger emerges from the wall. I stripped several screws simply by trying to angle them with my drill, and I had to resort to a small hand-held screwdriver to get one in. Because of the resistance to the screw, THAT one's head was also broken off. And. I decided to call it quits at that point.

Install instructions are included
4/5

Good hanger, bad hardware The bike hangers are fantastic, but the hardware is terrible. Even with pre-drilling, half of the screws came loose. drilling. If you don't mind the tires marking up your garage wall, these are SOLID and quite nice once mounted. Better hardware would make it a 5 * product. Notes on how to install: br>br> br>I mounted ours on standard 16" studs, but if the stud locations aren't ideal for you, you could strap some plywood across them and screw into that.
Pre- Drilling with a 11/64" made driving the screws in a breeze; only a couple of them stripped out. br>In place of the stripped screws, I used 12x2" screws. If you have time to shop ahead of time for hardware, Spax screws would be ideal. Because the holes in the hangers are just under 1/4", you'll need to go down a size. br>br>I marked the top hole, screwed it in loosely, then used a level against the top to level and screw the bottom hole. It's the only flat surface that can be used as a reference. After that, it's just a matter of tightening the top and the middle two!.

If you don't use the included screws, this is a fantastic product
4/5

Don't use the included screws, as others have suggested. It's not going to work if you try to screw these into something other than styrofoam. The heads simply come off in the blink of an eye. You'll be fine if you switch to regular screws. br>br>In our shed, where we have exposed studs, we have four of these and they work great. Two standard mountain bikes, one youth mountain bike, and one 27-inch mountain bike are available. Mounted on a 5-inch mountain bike. It's not difficult to get them to fit on the hooks, but I wouldn't recommend doing four of them in a row. It will be nearly impossible to get out of the bikes in the middle. Instead, I have two on one side, a skipped stud in the middle where I hang four helmets vertically, and two on the other side, which works great and makes it easier to get to the bikes. br>br>Great product for the price, but these screws should be thrown away. They serve no purpose and are a complete waste of money. They had to have paid for them in the amount of $5.

Bring Your Own Hardware for this great bike rack
4/5

This bicycle rack appeals to me. Design is simple, the material is of high quality, and it is simple to install. Make sure, however, that you use your own hardware. The anchor screws that were provided easily stripped out. With my own cheap anchor screws, I was able to easily install it. I would've been disappointed if I had relied on the ones that came with it, so bring your own anchor screws or attach at a wall stud instead.
