Questions & Answers

Is it necessary to connect a water hose for continuous water flow? Is it also necessary to connect a hose for water outlet/overflow?

There is a continuous water flow connection on the unit - This is what I used it for (and why). I found that I needed to refill the tank WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY This is what I came up with:
1. I threw in a quick-reference section. Remove the faucet adapter from the wash basin faucet in the laundry room. These are typically used with garden hoses to allow you to quickly disconnect and reconnect devices.
2. I then stepped it down to a 1/4" hose using a series of adapters. It's a hard, skinny plastic hose that comes on a 50-foot reel for a pittance - Because it's used in irrigation systems, it's capable of withstanding high water pressure.
3. I carried the hose all the way to the unit from that room - The skinny hose, as opposed to the garden hose, can fit under the door jamb, allowing me to close the laundry room door while maintaining water flow.
4. I added the correct adapter to the unit once more to "step up" the size of the water port. NOTE: You only need to run the water at a trickle to keep the unit full, and you won't be putting too much strain on the faucet, connections, hose, or unit with high water pressure. br>Getting it connected was initially a pain in the buttocks, but after a few hours of fiddling around and about $15 in adapters/Teflon tape/hose/connectors, it was well worth it to never have to manually refill the unit again. It makes a big difference to not have to carry buckets of water, etc., and to have cold water flowing to the unit all of the time.

Will this work in a room without any windows? thx. ?

No, you'll need a window, and it'll only work in dry environments. Also, before you buy, make certain you're certain. Because there are no returns on this large POS, I ended up with a large $400 doorstop.

Is there a place to keep ice in it?

It's not really an ice compartment, just a place on top of the unit to put a small amount of ice, and when it melts, the logic is that the cold water goes into the water well, but it's such a small amount that it won't affect the temperature or lower it in any way, and you'd be wasting ice doing so. You can get a block of ice, cut it in half, and place it in the holding tank at the bottom of the unit before filling it up, otherwise the water will overflow. This will reduce the temperature by about 10 degrees Fahrenheit. I used a temp gun on it and it was 70 degrees without the ice and 59 degrees with the ice. The only issue is that you have to remove the 4 screws from the unit's side panels and the panel to place the block in. When you're done, make sure the unit is turned off and the blade isn't spinning, or you'll slice your hand open or worse. If you don't unplug it first, believe me when I say it's not worth it.

What is the wattage that it consumes?

Possibly 500 watts of power.

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW I was hesitant to buy this item at first, but it has proven to be well worth the investment so far! I own a grilled cheese shop, so you can imagine how hot the kitchen gets
5/5

My cooks have noticed a significant difference since I placed this unit near the grill and ovens! The only negative aspect of this unit is its size; it takes up a lot of room, but it is well worth it. You'll also need to keep refilling it throughout the day, or you can install a hose on the bottom to ensure a consistent water flow. I can't do it because I don't want my workers to trip over the hose while they're working. Overall, I adore this unit, and it is without a doubt one of the best purchases I've made.

The Real Thing
4/5

I'm not one for gushing, but this is the real deal. It's light and easy to move when it's not filled with water. It's very easy to put together. It does an excellent job of quickly cooling. There's a convenient hose connection to keep it well stocked with water. br>br> Others have complained that their kit didn't come with the necessary hardware to connect to a hose. the- My box, on the other hand, included everything I require. The connector was bolted on, a hose was attached, and the beast was filled without spilling a drop. Not one. Very impressive. br>br>The first time I tried to fill it, I made a shambles trying to pour buckets of water into the top fill. It's doable, but use a funnel if you're going topside for the sake of your floor. br>br>I'd say this thing was made for a shop, garage, or outside. Despite its cooling abilities, it is not suitable for use in the bedroom. br>br>So, here's why it's not a five-star rating:

- It makes a lot of noise. Even on low, it produces the same amount of noise as a high-powered box fan. It wasn't terrible, but it was too much for me to sleep through. It's ideal for getting ready for an event. It's cool, but it's not suitable for all-purpose use. action in the dark
- Although the hose connector is soft plastic, the hose connector itself is brass. Crossing is a breeze. thread. These things are incredibly resilient. br>br> This unit is ideal for use outdoors or in a shop or garage. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I did, in fact, cross-reference my sources. thread the hose connector made of soft plastic. I contacted customer service, and a replacement part was sent out within 10 minutes.

For cooling a large area, this unit is reasonably priced
5/5

I rent a house with no air conditioning in SW Colorado Springs. During the day, it's very dry and hot, but the evenings are cooler. During the day, however, temperatures on two of the three levels of this house reached 86 degrees or higher. I conducted extensive research on this product and determined that it was the best fit for our requirements. My parents have recently moved in with me and spend the days with me. I needed to do a better job for them. On the middle level, where I installed the unit, we noticed an immediate change in temperature. In the dining room, I have a lovely lower window, so I placed the unit directly in front of it. This floor is very open, and it cools the entire floor to a pleasant temperature in the middle of the day. 70's. The kitchen, dining room, and family room are all on this floor, and it's where we spend the majority of our time. Each bedroom is cooled by a ceiling fan and a small tabletop fan, but the windows are open at night to allow for comfortable sleeping as the temperature drops into the 50s. Because it is not finished, the walkout basement is always cool. It is used for storage and laundry. This is the third time I've used it. I've had it for weeks and haven't had to clean it yet, but I'm sure I will soon. The first day had a strange odor, but it was not unpleasant, and it no longer emits any odors. We only run it in the late afternoons until the evenings start to cool down. To fill it, I bought a 15-foot hose, but now I use a 2-foot hose. Each day, fill a gallon watering can with water before using it. I have not received my first electric bill since receiving the unit, but based on the reviews, I believe it will be more cost effective than the window air conditioner that the previous owners left for me to use. If there's a drawback, I'd say it's loud enough that the TV has to be turned up to hear it, but conversations remain normal unless someone tries to talk from the kitchen to the family room, in which case it's difficult to hear what was said; I'd say it's a little louder than a table fan on high. The unit has three settings, and I should point out that we've never had to go beyond the first.

Quality is poor - It's not worth your money
3/5

I was extremely dissatisfied with this cooler. This unit was purchased in July 2017, and on September 7th, the fan simply fell off. Plunk. I had two of these units, and the first one's water pump stopped working before it was primed. Summary; The failure rate is two out of every two units. Within 60 days of purchasing both units, I began to have problems with them. For the price, I had hoped for more.

BIG! COLD! This re- (Is there a way to make a boxed return? With free shipping, it was too good to pass up! When I returned home from work, I discovered a massive box on my front porch
5/5

It's not that heavy; it's just that it's a pain to carry around. I was able to get it both inside and outside of the box. br>br>Felt quite solid, with thick plastic and a low tank to keep the center of gravity low. On the wheels, there are lockers. With a three-speed fan, this unit is simple to use. Two vertical airflow adjustments up or down, as well as a motorized side to side directed airflow that can be turned off, would make it perfect.

It hit 2088 here in Denver which means 92 ish at my house and 25% humidity so perfect time to test. It was 79 on the house thermostat 4, That'll do it for me all day! br>br>In my ranch style, it will work perfectly. Because my kitchen, eating area, and 'great room' (I suppose) are only 1500 square feet, this unit was able to cool my kitchen, eating area, and 'great room' with ease, but not my bedrooms or bathroom. Because it's a little too loud, turning up the surround volume was a good idea. I'm sure it'll look great on my back porch and serve as a nice 'chill' spot. On the side, you can also connect it to a garden hose. br>br>So far, I'm happy with it. Later in the summer, when we reach triple digits, I'll return for an update.
