If the capacity is greater than 100 gallons, I would buy the one-horsepower model.
I use it to keep a 125 gallon fish tank at 68 degrees and it only runs about half of the time because 1500 gallons of water outside is way too much.
Yes, as long as there is sufficient air flow and ventilation around the chiller.
It has increased my electric bill by $200 in just one month, and it primarily runs for 20 minutes twice a day.

This item was purchased for my computer or pc. My setup consisted of an i9 10900k processor, 32GB of corsair rgb ram running at 3600MHz, and a 2080 Super. There was a waterblock on both the GPU and the CPU. Unfortunately, the computer components could only be cooled to 39 degrees Fahrenheit using this machine. Sure, it could handle the wattage at full load, but the issue is the idle time; the unit is apparently set to allow the compressor to cool down for three minutes. Despite setting the temperature at 39 degrees and the deadzone at 1, the onboard control unit allowed temperatures to rise 10 degrees to 49 degrees before cutting on the compressor. br>However, I discovered a solution by connecting the AC2 wire (red wire) to the compressor wire (brown wire) and the fan wire (forgot which color blue perhaps?). With the ac2 wire, I was able to run the compressor continuously, lowering the temperature to 26 degrees F. Although this is a pleasant temperature, the compressor should not be run continuously. However, I can attest to the fact that this unit is extremely quiet. Even if it were to run, I wouldn't mind it. It's similar to an air conditioner in a window. br>br>Overall, I'd go with the penguin 1/2 hp unit because it can get colder (different refrigerant) and is of higher quality. This cost me $600 and I do not believe it was worth it. In my opinion, it is worth about $400 for our computers, but if you are going this far, I recommend going with Penguin and getting a chillerbox/freezer to keep your components free of condensation. However, if you don't mind the compressor running 24 hours a day and not being able to control the temperature, go for it. It's certainly preferable to those do-it-yourself window air conditioning unit conversions. You must also be comfortable with the issues mentioned previously. br>br>Also, the chiller arrived heavily damaged, but that is entirely the fault of the postal workers who delivered it to me, so there is no need to mention it in the review. edit: The second one I purchased is only capable of running the CPU and GPU at 45 degrees Fahrenheit. As a result, if you're looking to go colder, I wouldn't recommend it.
I have a few 1/4 HP active aqua chillers in my 60 gallon systems, and they work great. When the ambient temperature is around 82 degrees, I set the chiller to 67 degrees and it maintains that temperature without difficulty. I increased the memory on a few of my systems to around 100MB. I had 110 gallons and the 1/4 hp could not keep up with that much volume, but it was able to maintain a temperature of about 72 degrees and it was all running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so I upgraded to the 1/2 HP model. With the 1/2 HP running 24 hours a day, the temperature dropped to 70 degrees. Before ordering, I noticed that the 1/4 hp models are 3000 btu and use around 450 watts of power, while the 1/2 hp was only 4000 btu and used around 550 watts. When I first saw those figures, I was a little skeptical. I'm hoping that the 1/2 hp models are just a little bit more efficient. Well, it turns out they don't perform as well as they claim, so I returned the 1/2 HP and ordered another 1/4 HP, both of which are holding temperatures fine in the system.
Set the temperature and it'll work perfectly. It will cool down to that temperature and turn off until the temperature rises by 2 degrees, at which point it will turn on again. Just make sure you get a pump that can handle 800 gallons per minute with it. Only $25 for a pump It does not include a pump. However, the unit as a whole is excellent.
Other chillers with the same horsepower cost significantly more but perform similarly. At first, there was a minor leak, but it was entirely my fault due to the level differences; I would suggest it.
So far, this product has performed admirably. One thing to keep in mind is that this product requires an additional pump, which I was unaware of when I purchased it.
Still doesn't workbr>either there isn't enough refrigerant or something else is wrong.
The package was never opened, and it was returned to the sender.
