Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - by skilled leather craftsmen. With nickel plated rivets and a heavy duty welt, these axe or hatchet sheath pieces are an excellent addition to your Helko Werk axes and hatchets. A welt is a strip of leather that the blade edge rests against while sheathed, providing additional blade protection and extending the sheath's lifespan.
VEGETABLE-TANNED SADDLE LEATHER - We use full grain, vegetable-tanned cowhide leather for our sheaths. This high-quality leather is ideal for axe sheaths, holsters, and leather axe covers for axes and hatchets. Moisture protection has been infused into the Premium and Deluxe sheaths. Softening the leather is also aided by this.
TREATED FOR MOISTURE PROTECTION - During the treatment process, the leather sheath is protected from drying out and cracking over time. Customers can use leather conditioners, polishes, or creams to keep the leather healthy, supple, and strong over time if they wish. Vegetable tanned leather responds well to these treatments.
TOUGH, THICK, AND DURABLE - An axe or hatchet sheath will help protect and maintain the sharpness of your tools. The sheath is held together with nickel-plated rivets and operates with an adjustable buckle strap that can be tightened or loosened for a secure fit.
FITS BLADES UP TO 4 INCHES WIDE - These sheaths are made for Helko Werk axes, but they will fit most other brands as well. To get the perfect fit for your bushcraft axe, throwing hatchet, or camp axe, use our sizing guide.

Questions & Answers

I have a nine-inch-long cutting blade section on a meat cleaver that I need to protect. Is there a longer blade version of this product?

No, we don't have anything that fits that description. Best wishes to you.

Will this fit a husqvarna hatchet that is 13" in length?

Hello,br>We don't know the exact blade dimensions for the Husqvarna hatchet, but we believe it will fit. As long as the hatchet's blade length is equal to or less than three inches, you're good to go. If your hatchet's neck and back are 3/4 inch thick, this sheath should fit perfectly. A 12 inch strap should be more than enough to wrap around the hatchet's neck and back. Unless the hatchet is unusually large, these sheaths should fit the majority of hatchets. br>We hope this has provided you with the information you require. If you have any additional items, please let us know. Helko North America is a company based in the United States of America.

What is the maximum length of time that the stap can be extended to? I have a maul with a blade that measures 9 inches from the back to the front. I'll be wearing a medium. ?

This will most likely NOT FIT your 9" blade; I believe it is too small; however, check out their website for a larger selection; I highly recommend Helko Werk products.br>Nice sheath with good leather and rivets. buckle appears to be sturdy I have a 5 3/8" ax blade and ordered the large, which was a little too big. I would have ordered the medium, but the size chart indicated large for a 5 1/2" blade.br>It was a little tight at first, but it stretched out perfectly as leather does.br>Hope this helps.

Will it fit a trail boss made of cold steel?

We can't say whether the Trail Boss will fit or not because we don't have those size specifications because we don't make it. Our Medium sheath, on the other hand, is said to fit the trail boss perfectly by many of our customers. The medium sheath is designed to hold blades up to 4 inches in length. 5/8''. You'll be fine if you measure your axe blade in a straight line from heel to toe and make sure the dimensions fit within our sheath sizes.

For Your Large Heavy Iron Axe, a Sheath Built Old World Tough
5/5

This leather sheath is exactly what I needed, with the exception that in an ideal world, I'd have been able to find one with an integrated leather boot for the pick end of my "True Temper Kelly Standard Kelly Works" 6Lbs axe head. It's a fireman's axe in the traditional sense. I like how old and scarred/pitted up this one is. I'm not sure if this size axe is still made, so I'd say my chances of finding a sheath that covers both the front blade and the back pick of the axe are slim. I'll tell you what, I spent a lot of time on the internet looking for one. br>br>The 1/8" thick leather sections were built into a satisfyingly stiff construction, with tightly crimped (stainless steel? ) fasteners are a type of fastener that is used in the construction The blade endge rests on a third strip of 1/8" leather sandwiched between the front and back panels of the sheath, preventing the blade from coming into contact with the fasteners. I also like the fact that the sheath has a heat stamped (or otherwise pressed in) logo on the pretty side, which I think is attractive. br>br>The cutting/chopping blade on my axe is a 5. It's difficult to find a nice sheath/scabbard to fit over it when it's 25" long, and it's even more difficult with a belt long enough to wrap around the handle and reach back around to buckle tight. br>br>In the photos, you can see my axe with the sheath on it. The axe isn't finished yet (I'm making it as a Christmas present for my younger brother), so the handle isn't permanently attached, but I mocked it up to see if the sheath's belt would fit. Because leather stretches, it will only be able to buckle down into the last 1 or 2 holes, or possibly the last 3 holes, but that's fine with me. br>br>I intend to coat the sheath in an old blacksmith paste made of beeswax, turpentine, and boiling water. linseed oil, but aside from that (which is purely optional), this sheath is ready to use right away. In my opinion, this is an incredible value. I strongly suggest it. br>br>.

For the money, this is a fantastic sheath
5/5

A few weeks ago, I was planning on giving this axe sheath two stars. I bought the sheath a few months ago, but due to a family death, I never got around to putting it on my axe. When I finally got it on my axe, the strap split almost perfectly in half where the rivet was. As you might expect, I was dissatisfied, especially since the return deadline had passed. I was planning on punching another hole in the strap and riveting it myself, but instead I decided to send Helko an email through Amazon to express my disappointment. Since it was only a $15 axe sheath, I didn't expect to hear back. I was delighted to receive an apology from a company representative almost immediately after I emailed them. Within a few days, Helko North America had sent me a new sheath, complete with oil. Considering my experience, I have complete faith in the company and this product, and I would buy it again.

Fits my restored Collins "Boy's Axe" (small size) like a bug in a rug
5/5

I developed a new hobby during the pandemic: repairing and restoring antique equipment br>br>This is my sixth or seventh restored old axe, which arrived as a rusted hunk. I replaced the rotted handle with a new one that was the same length and size as the old one: 29 inches long. br>br>I wanted to be able to keep it in my truck toolbox in case of an emergency or other unforeseen circumstance. br>br>For the other axes I've restored, I've purchased sheaths from the following companies: Leatherwork for a double-decker bus Weaver Leather for a heavy single-handed weapon (good). Hide and Drink for a Hatchet (okay to good), and a bit (okay to good). br>br>I'd say this is the best sheathe I've ever bought for my particular application. It is well-fitting and secure. br>br>The craftsmanship is outstanding. 5 stars br>br>.

This is a great mask for you ax, so get it
4/5

This is an excellent ax mask, and ordering it was simple and straightforward, allowing me to ensure that I received the correct size for my ax. So, why isn't it a five-star rating? br>br>First, the bad news. There are a couple of reasons for this, and these are solely my opinions. The rivets that hold the leather together, for starters, could have been of better quality. These appear to be the mask's weak point, as they may eventually pull away from the leather's backside. Second, the rivet pattern has very little curve, making the mask appear "wobbly" when worn. It's not going to fall off or anything, but I don't like the way it looks right now. br>br>On the plus side, the leather appears to be of good quality and is well-made. While I don't care for the rivets, they are well-placed in the leather and executed. I'm looking forward to the leather breaking in a little more, as it's a little stiff right now, which is to be expected. The strap that connects the mask to the ax is quite long, which I like because, while this is only intended for the ax it's currently on, I have several other ax heads I'm restoring that will require the extra length once hung, and I can simply order more of the same mask. br>br>In general, if you're looking for a generic axe mask, this is a good choice, and I'll probably buy it again as I finish the other axes.

Finally, a Sheath for an Axe that Fits
5/5

I looked for a sheath to protect my vintage Kelly Axe Company B10 camping axe from damage and to protect myself from the axe after restoring it. (To see how sharp it was, I cut my finger. ) ) I quickly discovered that sheath manufacturers and/or vendors do a poor job of listing the axe sheaths' INTERNAL dimensions. This is the third Helko I've bought. The first one was insufficiently large. The size of the second was unsuitable. This one, on the other hand, was spot-on. I'm going to shorten the strap and apply some neatsfoot oil to it, but this one is going to be a keeper. (The first two had to be returned. ) ) The price seems a little high for the small amount of leather you get, but it does fit my axe.

After losing my original sheath for my small axe, I was using a homemade cover that didn't fit well and offered little protection
5/5

Over the last month, I've been looking at several sheaths and have finally found one that fits. The majority of the 5" ones were undersized. This should be able to handle a 6 inch bit with ease. After determining the length, I cut the strap. Now it's back in my saw kit, ready to clear some deadfall from backcountry trails. The leather and rivets are of high quality.
