Questions & Answers

Is this product covered by a warranty?

Is it true that this ostensibly "Elite" model and company only provides a one-year warranty? Every other model I looked at came with a two-year warranty. They fell into the slightly "lesser" category, in my opinion! I decided to take a look at the top end. Top-tier manufacturers should be willing to guarantee their products for at least as long as their lower-tier counterparts, if not longer. & This is a HUGE RED FLAG on its own! I'm hesitant to buy anything from them because of this. Shame on you. In addition, I was considering their new Clear Ice model. I hadn't yet looked into the warranty. yuck!

Is it possible to chew nuggett ice with it?

It produces three different sizes of round "cubes." Because the ice is soft, it is ideal for chewing. My granddaughter keeps an ice glass near her at all times just for this reason.

I bought one in October but have only recently used it, and it does not freeze! I'm not sure how I'm going to get my money back. ?

So, if it doesn't freeze, I guess this poor customer will have a hard time getting ice from it, since the water must be FROZEN for that, and it is, after all, an ICE MACHINE DLH. Isn't that what you're thinking?

Is the melted ice/water recycled back into the reservoir in this method?

Thank you so much for getting in touch with us at Newair. Yes, the melted ice/water is recycled back into the reservoir. br>With best wishes, br>Customer Care

Never in my life again! I don't usually give negative feedback, but this unit is deserving of it
3/5

On March 25, 2018, I purchased this item. The sensor that prevents ice from forming when the basket is full failed after only four months. That's something we can deal with. Despite the fact that we use filtered water, we noticed mineral corrosion on the condenser after only 6 months. Metallic flakes have started to appear on the plastic beneath the condenser and in the water tank more recently. Condenser posts may be chipping away, as the flakes are magnetic. Though NewAir responds to emails, they tell us it's beyond warranty. I should have called the company about it before the one-year warranty expired, but we were busy and I missed the deadline. There are no replacement parts available, and "I hope you're having a good day. " " Well, guess what? I'll tell you what! It was a complete waste of money. I strongly discourage you from doing so.

Sugru comes to the rescue once again
4/5

This machine, which I bought in March 2016, has both good and bad qualities. Because the bin is not large, we were enjoying the ice and even bagging up the excess to store in the freezer. Around October of last year, the machine began to make a horrible grinding noise. When I inquired about the warranty, I was given an information request. Due to previous reviews, I had a photo of the machine's data panel and a copy of my receipt on hand. After that, I was given a more friendly greeting and a Return Authorization Number. They sent me a new box and a couple of small protective pads because I didn't keep the original. Because this was insufficient for shipping protection, I ordered some packing materials and prepared to return the machine. I kept listening for the machine to quit and getting ready for enough ice in the freezer so I wouldn't have to buy ice. Well, the machine was 95% quiet with only I kept the machine because it wasn't consistent, and it's now July of 2017. My husband dismantled the tray and discovered the problem, which was that it couldn't hold enough water to make ice. It has a metal sleeve that wraps around two plastic half rings that are part of the tray. Making these half circles instead of half rings with a cent worth of plastic would have made a huge difference in their ability to withstand constant use. More information can be found in the photographs. br>br>We replaced the metal sleeve and filled the tube with sugru, then inserted the motor arm into the sugru and closed the machine; if I hadn't had sugru on hand, I would have used a stainless steel screw through the tray and into a new piece of plastic glued to the tray. It will be difficult to replace the tray. br>br> If we can't find a replacement tray, we'll have to dismantle the ice machine even more. The tray is placed in place during manufacturing, and then spray-in foam is used for insulation and sound dampening. As a result, simple replacement becomes a major project rather than a simple fix. br>br>For what it's worth, I'm not going to replace this when it finally dies. I'll opt for a commercial unit that can be repaired and produces significantly more ice in a single day. I really want to like the machine, but I'd like it to be able to drain water more easily (it needs to be moved to a sink), fill it more easily (it has to be filled by hand), and be easier to repair. I'm not a big fan of easily broken plastic parts. A few minor changes to this machine would raise the price, but they would also increase customer satisfaction far more than the cost of production.

It broke less than a month after it was purchased, and it was replaced in less than two weeks
3/5

This ice maker does exactly what it says on the package. I had one before that lasted a year before it stopped sucking up water and started giving us problems. We liked it so much that we ordered another one from Amazon, following all of the instructions to allow it to sit upright before plugging it in. It didn't make ice properly on one side from the start, and no matter what size was selected, the ice on that side was small. It's only making three things right now (it's only been a month). I've chosen Amazon to replace it with four ice cubes at a time. Hopefully, the next one will be more successful. br>br>Edit- i got a replacement When the compressor first turned on, it began to make a strange noise after less than two weeks. It would go away after a minute, but it is extremely irritating. My money has been refunded by Amazon. The replacement will be returned to me. This company (new air) clearly has a problem with quality control.

Ice maker that works well
4/5

This ice maker was purchased specifically for our annual large camping trip. We just got back from our trip, and the machine did an outstanding job. Although the unit is quite large, we were able to find the ideal location for it. The unit makes noise and produces heat, but I didn't notice the noise or the heat because the a/c was running all day in the RV (in near-100 degree Texas heat). We bought a smaller unit before this one and had to return it because it didn't make enough ice; this unit didn't make enough ice to meet all of our needs on the camping trip, but it was nice to always have clean ice for our drinks and ice for our small coolers when we went out on the boat or fishing from the shore. The machine produced ice every 10 minutes or so as long as there was water in it. The noise of the ice falling into the tray kept us awake at night, so we turned it off. Because the freezer was already full of ice, we often had to dump the full trays of ice into the big cooler. I am very pleased with this ice maker and would recommend it to my friends.

So far, everything has gone well
5/5

We've had this machine for about three months, and it's pretty much the only way we get ice now that the ice maker in our Samsung refrigerator is broken. We always set it to "large" ice, and contrary to what I had read, it does take a little longer to get large ice cubes. The first bath will be ready in about 20 minutes, but it will be small and thin. After about 30 minutes, you'll notice large, thick bullet ice starting to form. br>br>I believe there is a widespread misunderstanding about this, as well as all other ice makers. These aren't freezers at all. They only make ice, and once it's in the tray, it starts to melt slowly because it wasn't designed to keep ice frozen all day. The ice in the tray will eventually melt, drip into the water tank, and then be re-frozen. More ice cubes were created as a result of this process. That suits me just fine. In fact, I'll sometimes turn off the machine at night with a full tray of ice in it, and by morning, there'll still be enough ice left that hasn't melted to fill a large cup. br>br>As long as this thing keeps pumping out ice, I'll be satisfied.
