Is the machine ready to use right out of the box?
The machine does not come completely assembled, but it is not difficult to put together.
What type of ice do you need to use? Is it better to use a block of ice or just plain ice cubes?
We simply used ordinary ice cubes. We like it a lot. It functions admirably.
One customer reported that it does not work with refrigerator ice and that they must purchase bagged ice; does anyone else have this issue?
I made snow cones for my kids at home using refrigerator ice, and they loved them!
What size block ice should this machine use?
Small cubed ice is recommended.

This is exactly the machine I was looking for, I must say. It arrived in good condition, having been well-wrapped. It was also delivered two days ahead of schedule. It's a great product to have; I haven't used it yet, but the shipping is exactly what I needed.

It does not shave the ice as finely as I would like

It does not shave the ice as finely as I would like. Even with adjustable blades, the finest adjustment is still quite chunky.

I was unable to make it work

So it was fairly simple to set up, but the one I received did not work. It shaved the ice once, but the ice was shredded duct tape, and when we tried again, it wouldn't shave the ice; my brother tried for two hours and couldn't get it to work.
