A water catch is absent on the inside lip because the inside lip goes all around the inside lip. Although I've searched for units addressing this issue, I have yet to find one at an affordable price. three different brands and units I have owned within the past 20 years have all had this problem. The fact that someone cannot solve this with a simple drain hole is amazing. Except for that, I think this rice cooker is great. I have learned to open the lid slowly so 90% of the water drains into the pot as the handles help you lift the inner pot even if it is hot. I have also learned how to stop the inner pot from spinning when stirring or scooping cooked rice.
Each quart is 4 ounces. You can make pot roast with potatoes and carrots in the slow cook mode.

Having owned an expensive Zojirushi model for many years, I can tell you that this model is just as good by ease of use and cooks rice as well for a fraction of the price. All in all, I eat rice about twice a week. I'm glad to be able to work out 3 times a week. The inner pot handles on this unit are what I like most about it, as I didn't have them on my other units. There is only one thing that's missing a catch/drain for water when you open the lid, but that comes in much more expensive models.
The product I bought in December stopped working after two months and my return policy was no longer in effect. The rice cooker I reviewed isn't worth your money.
