Questions & Answers

Is it capable of slicing potatoes without difficulty?

Yes, it is possible. It's a sharp and durable knife that we've used to cut potatoes, onions, cucumbers, and a variety of other things. This knife has been a great success for us, and I would recommend it to anyone. We also purchased steak knives, which effortlessly cut through meat.

What is the knife's actual length; it says three and a half inches, which I assume is the blade's length?

It's actually a 3 3/4" cutting edge, which is ideal for me. The longest measurement of the entire knife is 8".

Is this a knife that can be used by people who are left-handed?

Yes! For my left-handed girlfriend, I purchased the knife.

I'm excited to get my knife, but do you know where I could get a beltloop sheath?

Sheaths are made by a diverse group of people. You can either buy a cheap sheath or have a high-quality leather sheath made for you. I'm the one who makes them.

A cut above the rest
5/5

Did you think you could recognize a paring knife when you saw one? Reconsider your position. This is a truly exceptional knife. Apart from that, the construction has a solid feel to it, and the handle is very robust, giving you a lot of control. It's razor-sharp, and as long as you don't abuse it, it'll stay that way for a long time - a little honing done on a regular basis should suffice - A little tender loving care is all that's required. br>I have several other paring knives, including a couple of inexpensive ones, but this one outperforms them all. The only disadvantage is that it can be a little large for some delicate tasks, making it more of a small utility knife than a paring knife; the only other paring knife I need is a short one (2. 5¨- 0 ), which I prefer for tasks such as peeling boiled potatoes and/or coring sprouts from potatoes before cooking. For this, Dalstrong has a paring/peeling knife in the shape of a "birds beak. " When you need to work with the tip but don't want to use a long blade, this is the blade to use. This knife is ideal for all "off the board" cutting, as well as some small jobs on the board. However, because the knife is fairly broad, it is better suited to relatively flat tasks rather than intricate, curvy tasks, let alone a tourné cut.

I bought this knife and loved it at first, but the customer service was exceptional
4/5

It was razor-sharp and quickly became my favorite knife, as well as being sturdy and well-balanced. I have a number of Shun knives and thought this one was on par in terms of quality. The knife became extremely dull after about 10 uses. I've also noticed some rusting on the tip recently. After each use, I immediately hand-washed and dried the knife. I understand that you may need to sharpen a knife from time to time, but after 10 uses? I've had my oldest Shun for more than three years and have never needed to sharpen it. br>br>Custoner service was said to be excellent. I sent them an email almost a week ago and have yet to hear back. At $50, this was a huge letdown and a loss. I suppose what you pay for is what you get. Add $30 to your budget. ********Update*******
I was initially dissatisfied with the knife and lack of response from the company's customer service; however, the company later reached out to me and addressed all of my concerns. br>br>********Update*******
I was initially dissatisfied with the knife and lack of response from the company's customer service; however, the company later reached out to me and addressed all of my concerns. They went out of their way to fix the problem and make sure I was happy. In today's world, most businesses are unconcerned about customer service, but Dalstrong is dedicated to making sure the customer is satisfied. As a result, I'll be buying knives from them in the future.

A stylish paring knife
5/5

This lovely Klingon weapon cuts very well in miniature. The regular paring knife was great, but the bird's beak excels in agility and delivers everything you need to cut with a choke grip. I recently enjoyed cutting strawberries into long rolls with it, which elevated strawberry garnish to a new level. The beak of the bird slams into the table. slashes through them like a knife - even if they're a little squishy This could be done with a regular paring knife, but it was much more difficult, so I usually just cut thin slices instead. br>br>I bought and used the Gladiator version of this knife for a short time, not realizing Dalstrong would release a Shogun series version soon after. Though I was pleased with the Gladiator version when it arrived and enjoyed using it, the Shogun version is far superior. Additionally, the craftsmanship is noticeably superior: For instance, consider the difference between a beautiful mirror finish and visible grinding lines along the blade's side. In addition, the steel is much harder, and the handles are the best I've ever used.

This is the last set of knives I'll ever need! I ended up replacing all of my German-made Henckel knives, which I had been using for more than 30 years
5/5

I was sick of hitting them with a steel every time I used them, not to mention the monthly sharpening. So far, I've been very pleased with these Dalstrong knives; after two months of daily use, I haven't had to sharpen them, and they're still razor sharp. I did buy a second Paring knife just to practice sharpening it. I would advise anyone interested in these knives to watch a video on how to properly sharpen Japanese knives on YouTube; sharpening is a time-consuming process that quickly becomes a labor of love. They're a striking set of knives that will catch your attention. The handles are perfectly sized for my hands, and the weight distribution is excellent. They're a sturdy, well-made piece of equipment that I'm confident will last the rest of my life and the lives of future generations. I agree that some of the extra items included with these knives are unnecessary, and the lapel pins are simply cheap junk that ended up in the trash. The plastic sheath is very nice, and with these knives being so sharp, it's almost a requirement for personal protection.

Knives in a lovely set
5/5

I've been considering DALSTRONG knives for a while, but I'm hesitant to make the switch because some online reviews claim it's all marketing hype. I came across this set and decided to try it out, and I'm glad I did. br>br>First and foremost, these knives are stunning and arrive in a lovely box. The pairing knife was very sharp, well balanced, and I like that it is a little heavier than my old pairing knife. br>br>The Birds Beak knife was interesting for me because I had never used one before, so I gave it a try on some jalapenos I was chopping up for my meal. br>br>I'm not sure if I'll ever use the serrated knife, but who knows! It was very comfortable, very sharp, and the weight was perfect for me. br>br>I'm not sure if I'll ever use the serrated knife, but who knows! Even if I never use it, I'll be able to display it alongside my other knives. br>br>As I begin to put together my new collection, I will be purchasing more DALSTRONG knives in the near future. As long as I continue to receive high-quality knives at a reasonable price, this will be my new go-to brand.
