Hello, the ice pick has a hidden extension that runs the length of the wooden handle and is well screwed on with the metal chip; this ice pick is installed as a whole. This is the first time it has ever fallen off.
I haven't used it to crush ice in the way you describe, but it's a well-made, sturdy ice picker. I've successfully broken apart ice that has clumped together using the tool's top.
This does not appear to be the case. The top and bottom picks of the hammer are separate - However, it is one of my most prized possessions! The top of the hammer is sturdy and well-balanced. For us, it's ideal. On both ends, the edges are quite sharp, so proceed with caution.

I purchased this item because my previous one was chrome plated rather than stainless steel, and I didn't realize it until the chrome plating began to peel off while I was using it. I was relieved to find this one because I didn't have any ice that required a pick. If you have a block of ice, the pick is excellent, but this item also works well for breaking ice that has become stuck together. I have a counter top ice maker that makes bullet ice, and it tends to melt slightly after it's made, then freeze back into clumps when I put it in the freezer, so I mostly use the hammer part because a few smacks with it easily breaks most of the clumped ice cubes loose, and I don't have to worry about stabbing myself. This is the best tool I've seen that can be used four different ways depending on the ice you need to break up; I've put a cork bottle stopper on the sharp pick end to avoid accidents that would result in my bleeding on the ice; this is the best tool I've seen that can be used four different ways depending on the ice you need to break up.
When I was younger, if we needed an ice pick, we simply went out and purchased one. Or maybe I didn't, but my parents did because I was too young to purchase an ice pick. They also worked every time. After reading the reviews of so many ice pictures, it appears that finding one that works, doesn't rust overnight, doesn't fall apart, and doesn't summon demons is nearly impossible. Well, this thing works; I've had it for quite some time and am very pleased with it. I can immerse myself in solid ice that has accumulated in my dreadful refrigerator freezer, and it works like a charm. Oh, I'm not sure if it would rust if I dropped it in the water, threw it in the pond, or kept it in the sink. But it's lovely and functional.
The handle barely fits a female palm, the sharp sculpting hammer portion on top makes it uncomfortable to grip, and the wooden handle has chipped into the ice.
AN EXCELLENT ice pick. This ice pick is stunning, if ice picks can be considered beautiful. My son was here for a visit and wanted to "snag it" to take home for his house. It's heavy, has a lot of features, and is a good size. I use a lot of bagged ice, and this is the ideal product for breaking it down into manageable chunks. I'd make another purchase.
So I bought it not because I needed to chip ice for bartending or anything like that. legal activities that are more dubious However, because the power was out for a few hours, the ice in the freezer melted just enough to create the monstrous ice cube from hell, which even the sharpest steak knives couldn't remove from the bucket. As a result, I purchased this ice pick. It was a success. It's also comforting to know that I'm covered if I ever require a razor-sharp, pointy implement for any other reason.
This is the second one I've purchased. I kept the first one and gave away the second. It's a lot more than a simple ice pick. This product comes highly recommended from me.
It looks fantastic in the kitchen and functions flawlessly. For different reasons, both the long needle end and the chunky, heavy pointed end are useful. Although I'm sure a less expensive ice pick would suffice, I'm glad I have this elegant tool. We've also decided that it will be our default setting. If we ever need a defense tool, this is it!.
This ice pick is not only functional but also attractive. I was concerned that it would feel or appear cheap, and I considered purchasing a longer ice pick as well. It appears to be well-made and attractive, and the length of 7 inches is ideal.
