Peacock used an ice pick to do it in her kitchen. I was looking for an ice pick because I was uncomfortable using a pointy/sharp knife because I was afraid a piece would break off and get lost in the ice, and I was looking for a specific look (metal, not wooden), feel (heavy/sturdy), size (not too long or big), and price (it's not something I'd want to spend a lot of money on) and this fit the bill perfectly. It's heavy and sturdy, the top unscrews easily from the pick end, the handle has a metal grip that makes it easy to separate, and the business end is razor sharp and will cut through any ice in its path. It's pretty sleek for what it is, and it's a lot nicer than the cheap-looking wooden-handled ones out there, in my opinion. Because of its size, value, heft, and effectiveness, it comes highly recommended.
PACKAGING ON THE OUTSIDE: PERFECT. INSIDE: CASING: NOT ! PACKAGING WHICH HAS BEEN OPENED FROM THE INSIDE THE ICE PICK WAS THEN REMOVED. THE ICE PICK FELL OUT OF ITS PLASTIC BAG, MUCH TO MY SURPRISE. WHEN MY FOOT FELL, I "JUST" MISSED IT. THE BAG THAT ACTUALLY COVERED THE ICE PICK APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CHANGED. BECAUSE THE CUT WAS UNEVEN AT THE TOP, YOU COULD SEE WHERE SOMEONE HAD CUT OPEN THE TOP OF THE PLASTIC BAG. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN IF THIS IS THEIR METHOD OF DOING BUSINESS. BTW: THE ICE PICK'S WEIGHT IS VERY IMPORTANT. HAD THE POSSIBILITY OF CAUSING HARM. WITH THE PACKAGING, I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.
I'm also a big fan of the color. It's a lovely ice pick, don't you think?.
THE SHAFT, ON THE OTHER HAND, WAS A LITTLE TOO THICK FOR MY TASTE, AND I CANNOT GET A GOOD GRIP ON IT BECAUSE IT SLIDES IN MY HAND WHEN I USE IT. I HAVE TO HOLD IT WITH A TOWEL IN ORDER FOR IT NOT TO SLIP.
It has a threaded safety cap, and I'm not sure how well the threads will hold up in a saltwater environment, but I'm hopeful. In the worst-case scenario, I would suggest a dab of Vaseline. Vincent's yacht club is located in Brooklyn.
adds a touch of glitz and glam to your kitchen It has a great design and is well-made.
Awesome.
