You can use it on bagels as well. Making my own and freezing the slices makes them last longer.
As well, I had the same issue. When the bottom crust is cut through the loaf, roll it up on its side so the cut has a better chance of being complete. After using a serrated bread knife for a while, I started using a straight knife again.

This bread knife has been on my wish list for a long time. The first time I saw it, I was completely amazed. It is a beautiful kind of I got the results I was looking for. Despite the light usage, however, the blade was destroyed after one month. I am disappointed.

I don't like how I slice bread in front of my family. WHEN I was trying to cut evenly my sourdough loaf, I was at my wit's end.
