I wash it by hand with typical dish soap and immediately dry it after I have rinsed it. I do not see any difference in its sharpness compare to carbon steel Damascus knives at a lower cost. We are very happy with these knives. They are worth twice as much as they cost.

Originally, I gave my daughter this bread knife because it was old and I needed a replacement. As she sliced crusty bread with some difficulty one evening, I decided to replace her current knife with one that would be better and sharper. After reading reviews of bread knives and customer reviews, I went on to read customer testimonials. A Dahlstrong knife was one of the higher graded knives, especially for the type of bread with a very crusty crust. Therefore, both my son in law and daughter have had a chance to use the knife on crusty bread as well as on The hefty feel and impressive cutting ability was cited as reasons why they loved it. As a bread cutter, I have also been blown away by this knife. It has a width of 10 inches and a length of 10 inches. Slicing is effortless with the 5" blade, thanks to its heft. There is a Ken Onion *10" Shun knife I own with almost similar specs, but is wider and has a taller offset handle, many people in my house love it too, but I think it is very similar in cutting and handling. The Shun knife has a price three times what the Shun does, and only because of my love for knives and my desire for a limited production design from Ken Onion.
When you receive this knife, Dalstrong will package it in a magnetic close box that is custom foam padded to protect it when shipping or storing- ensuring optimum conditions for optimal performance. It is fitted with a protective sheath with a logo cutout on both sides and a string and peg pin for extra security. Dahlgren will also send you a polishing cloth, a branded Shogun series chef pin, as well as customer service and feedback material. From the initial presentation to the ease of use of this knife, this company truly cares about making the purchase of this knife a positive experience. When you remove the blade from the sheath, you'll notice that the hand-polished hardwood handle is surprisingly smooth in your hand thanks to the pakkawood body's tang, triple riveting for added durability, and hand polishing for an extremely smooth surface. To give this pin that extra touch of distinction, a copper mosaic pin is placed in the center. In addition to the engraved logo on the second bolster (or end cap), this adds counterbalance for excellent control when in Keeping the knife handle clean is made easier with the lamination, which prevents dirt and debris from building up in the wood. Blade made of 67 layers of stainless steel that is scalpel sharp and made with 67 layers of high carbon stainless steel. Its blade has perfectly spaced serrations and a tapered tang for hardness and flexibility. The blade sides are polished to a mirror finish, and feature Tsunami Rose Blade patterns. Approximately 8-grit sharpness is obtained by sharpening and honing The edge of the knife is maintained well and has a 12 degree angle. There are two L's in a sentence In the design, the blade has been shaped to be ergonomic for cutting, eliminating stress on the wrist and hand. There is a booklet in the box filled with instructions on how to use, care for, and sharpen the blades. As a final note, Dalstrong knives come with both a Lifetime Warranty and a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, so I have no reservations about recommending this brand to others. The special care that has been taken in making this knife tough and durable will be appreciated by professionals in the kitchen. It is still possible to appreciate the amazing uses and quality of this knife even if you are not a professional chef.
It was pretty impressive to see how nicely packaged it was when I received it today. Package that is top of the line. The packaging is beautiful and it includes everything I need. Also, I love that it has a hard sleeve that covers the knife. It looks amazing at first glance. A knife with deep teeth is a nice knife. I like the knife's cutting ability. It does not get a 4 star rating from me because the tang is too small in my opinion and it is hard for me to grasp. For professionals, this knife would be ideal if the length of the tang were at least half an inch longer. When I use 12 inch chef's knives in the kitchen, the tang is about 1/2 inch shorter than the tang in my 12 inch chef's knife. The blade also measures 10 inches. The handle is too small for the knife. It appears that it's ideally suited to people with smaller hands since the knife is 25 inches long.
It was impossible for me to cut through the crusty bottoms of my loaves with a serrated knife since it was not long enough or sharp enough. The Dalstrong is a gift for my son and daughter in law who have a complete set and love it. A sheath that could be used to store the knife would be an added bonus. In this case, the knife suited the purpose. There's nothing better than looking at it. I couldn't think of a better way to cut through the bread with such a sharp knife. There is some weight to the bag, but not to an uncomfortable level. It is a wonderful length, I have used it to cut cake and cornbread in the past.
The only minor complaint I have is that the handle is a little short. To me it is okay, but if you have larger hands, it may not be a good fit.
My wife and I haven't found a knife as good as this when it comes to cutting homemade bread. It is no longer necessary to use a device to hold the bread or hold the slices evenly As long as I see each one eyeball and let the Damascene steel do the rest of the work, I'm good. As with "you get what you pay for," a craftswoman is only as good as the tools she uses. We'll be able to pass this down for a long time.
