From $20 to $75, there are a variety of options. I was glad I had a day to research which Chinese one was the best. Ok- Getting down to the nitty gritty I just finished my first batch of eggs. I keep my real butter on the table in a covered dish so it's simple to add and spread in and around the cups with the 1/2 inch spatula that comes with the kit. On my induction cooktop, I brought two cups of water to a low boil. On a flat surface, crack four eggs, then place them in the cups with the lids on. I asked Alexa to set a three-minute timer for me. I was able to see the transformation from raw to done because this cooker has a glass lid. Time up! I used the knob on the cup retainer to remove the eggs and cups from my tile countertop. I tapped the eggs onto my English Muffins with a gentle tap. Viola ! Poached eggs that are perfectly cooked. The butter is necessary because eggs have a tendency to stick to anything, including nonstick pans. And, by the way, when I went to order a second one for Yuma, the price had risen by $5. Even at $25, this is a good buy.
Despite the fact that I washed the item, the packaging left an odd taste in my eggs. Everything was washed by hand. yuck! Unfortunately, the taste of the processed foods is still present in the cooked eggs. after a few days of washing and attempting again and again I'm afraid I'll have to return, but this time with a different brand.
The product isn't bad, but it could be better. Oven mitts are required because a metal handle gets hot; however, this could have been avoided if the handle had been coated with a heat resistant material. Because the egg cups are metal, they are also difficult to hold, necessitating the use of an oven mitt once more. I doubt you'll be able to avoid that part, but I'm glad to have poached eggs back in my life. I just wish I didn't have to wear so much protective gear in order to use it.
Each egg poacher's detached metal handles should not be kept separately. A small handle should have already been attached to each cup. The design is extremely poor. This does not sit well with me at all.
I'm not a poacher by any stretch of the imagination. I didn't think it was worth the effort. Because these aren't really "poached" eggs - For "Basted Eggs" (or Blinded Eggs, as we used to call them in the US Merchant Marine), it's much easier to use a high-quality pan (such as AllClad) and cover it.
With one notable exception, I really enjoyed this egg poacher. The cups are difficult to remove once the eggs are ready to be removed because they are still far too hot. I couldn't use hot gloves or mitts because they were too bulky, so I had to use a dish towel, which was inconvenient; if that problem could be solved, the poacher would be almost perfect.
I enjoy the fact that I can cook 6 eggs and feed everyone at the same time. The eggs came out easily, and cleaning was a breeze.
This is a handle that has the potential to become loose. Unfortunately, the metal handles are very hot to touch when removing the individual cooked egg trays if you want to serve them hot and right away, as I suspected. To prevent your fingers from burning, use some kind of insulator.
