I think this thing is definitely 'red' (not brown) and does exactly what it appears to. There are embossed symbols on the bottom which may indicate that it is Japanese, indicated by its heavy duty construction and embossed symbols on the bottom. To match her cast iron teapot, I bought a set for my daughter. The 'devil box' (microwave) was used to constantly warm up my coffee throughout the morning for a long time. I bought one separately instead. This was not something that I wanted to be done with an electric candle warmer and not a microwave. The cast iron gem I needed was exactly what I was looking for, thanks!.

The tea pot was purchased as an addition to a similar cast iron tea pot. Having a cast iron teapot itself cool quickly causes the water to cool once it has been placed inside. The warmer is made of excellent quality and easy to access to light the tea lights it contains. It maintains the temperature of the tea to the desired level.
