My boyfriend bought me a pair as a gift, and once I saw how well it worked, I just had to have one of my own. Our tea mugs stay the perfect temperature on these if placed on these every day. We have several cups of tea a day, and these keep them that way. A perfect temperature is not too hot, but not too cold. Due to the fact that there is simply not enough space on the heating plate for smaller mugs (we use big mugs) and because the surface is immediately scratched through normal use, I deducted one star. The only problem is that both of us have been using them for only a couple weeks, and they're completely scratched.
