Questions & Answers

Do the mini mill slim and the mini mill slim plus have different functions?

This Hario Mini Mill Slim Plus is an updated version of the Mini Mill Slim grinder made for the United States. Having a slate gray color and a hexagonal handle adapter (to prevent slipping and breakage), it has a slate gray color. A 24g capacity vs a 30g capacity means that less coffee is needed.

After getting a Porlex mini, I regretted the purchase
3/5

The pros are Please note
Burrs made out of ceramic- It's relatively cheap, but has a few cons Please note
During grinding, the handle keeps falling off, especially when grinding hard beans - A bit less compact than it could be (e. g. It seems to take up a lot to collect the garbage around the collection bin)

I've been using a HandGround Coffee Grinder and have been quite pleased I wanted something that was smaller and lighter to travel with. Although I was tempted to return it because it was so much harder to use than the Handground, I just assumed that was the way it was because of the size, and some other small grinders might be even A small grinder came to mind recently while searching for one To find the right one, I specifically looked for those that fit the whole of an AeroPress plunger, and got When I first heard about it, I was skeptical. While Porlex mini is yet another smaller grinder in terms of size, it is still much easier to grind and hold. The handle stays attached to the grinder while grinding harder beans due to the patented design. I like your work very much- It has clever design elements like the rubber grip that doubles as a handle holder, and it has excellent metal precision. The decision to buy this grinder from Hario didn't seem sane at the time, and I regret not doing further research before purchasing it.

The price at which it is sold is very reasonable, and it shouldn't disappoint

Thanks for visiting! My first hand grinder was a few years ago and I was very happy with it. As this is my second hand grinder (and I'm still using it), I will share my experience. It has been my daily ritual over the past year to use this hand grinder to grind coffee, usually one cup per day. The pros include Observations 1. The Mini Slim Pro model will hold over 60g (have not tried more) comfortably in the lower chamber. Its shape and size make it very simple to use holds about 30g of beans in its hopper, and fits comfortably in the hand. This hopper has a wide opening so you can pour beans into it without spilling! 1. . 2. Among the materials bin and hopper feel really sturdy, and they haven't made any noticeable scratches so far. It feels like it will last for an extended period of time. This is what the handle looks like The handle is really strong and I believe it is cast aluminum in which it will never bend. Item 4. The quality of the grind should be decent The performance of this device will not be as good as the $230 Comandante or other very high-end smartphones While I don't rely on this grinder as much as I do a high-end grinder, I've found this one to be quite good for drip coffee, Aeropress (my preferred method), and pour over (I tried the Kalita Wave 185). 4. *br It consists of The ceramic handles are durable, and I have yet to experience any problems. This is 6. There was very little noise from this compared to any electric appliance that has a motor. It's very useful for not waking up the neighbors! The cons are Observations 1. Here is how the latch works A simple latch, rather than threads, makes attachment and disconnection easy - Hario bins fit into hoppers via a latch that attaches to the bin. It should be facing the right direction if it's at the right angle. I just noticed something small when I remove the grounds bin to pour freshly ground coffee into my Aeropress and the hopper isn't facing the right way, I have to search around the edges of both pieces in order to make sure the 1. . 2. Here is how the latch works There is really not much to worry about here There is some wear to the latching mechanism on the hopper side of the grinder, as you can see from the photo. It experienced that wear within the first two months of ownership, and now I have had it for more than five months and there has not been any more wear. Simply adjust the grinder's grip a little higher and support the hopper a little more if you're concerned about wear. Still, I feel that this omission was overlooked during the design process. Lastly, 3. At coarser grinds, the grinder consistency is I believe the consistency appears to be fine for a grinder priced below $100, but if you're grinding for french press, filter, or cold brew you're gonna have a lot of fines, which are smaller particles or dust than what you're aiming for. In Airpress or French Press it doesn't matter (you'll still get good coffee if your beans are also good) but it might clog paper filters in pourovers (not as bad if you're making only a couple of cups) and Yesterday I ground 90g of coffee coarsely to make some cold brew for the first time, and I thought I would filter it through my Kalita wave, but that didn't work out very well at all. In order to press this, I had to use an aeropress Put the coffee through a filter! Item 4. A coarseness can be set as follows When you have never used a grinder like this before, it can be frustrating and intimidating trying to figure out exactly how many clicks to set it to the first time. The important thing to remember is In this case, 10 clicks from completely closed would be medium or drip, 5 would be fine/espresso, and 14 would be about right for cold brew or french press (I usually brew cold brew A number of other helpful websites can be found here )
5. If you use a mill chart, it would also work. You'll need to put some elbow grease into this. Much more expensive hand grinders are said to have bearings and sharp metal burrs, so they make it much easier and more comfortable, but this isn't that fancy (or as expensive)6. Although it is very slim and portable, it cannot fit inside my aeropress like the aergrind can. It would be great if there was an easier way to carry it for travel, however, this is more of an obsessive concern than an actual complaint. Basically, as you may have been able to tell, most of my cons are more of nitpicks and annoyances, but in reality, are very easy to cope with when running a business. In my experience Generally speaking, the grind quality of this grinder is not as good as the model with the "plus" or other grinders out there, but I love the metal body and large grinding container of this grinder. The hand grinder I purchased was under $100, and I'm very pleased with the Putting the kettle on to heat up is always more time consuming than grinding the 17g of coffee. In the morning, I grind 17g of coffee for my cup, which usually takes me a couple minutes. Moreover, if the hopper fills up more than 30g of coffee, then you will have to refill it and by then the handle churning will become tiresome (the 90g of coffee for the cold brew yesterday took almost two hours! Pourover coffee will probably take a little longer than stated by some instructions due to the filter beginning to clog as you get near the end of the brew, but it's not a big deal at all, and it's still going to taste great! This is sometimes a great (and sometimes a great! It usually takes me about half an hour to do an aeropress job (at a medium temperature). The grind is coarse at the coffee shop, and I receive a consistently tasty cup ).

I am happy with how things have gone so far
5/5

Many of the points I was looking for were checked off I.
1. 2. Good materials (the plastic bits feel quite sturdy, unlike the cheap plastic you'd find on the street)
2. It is easy to take apart and clean/maintain
3. This grinder produces fairly consistent grinds to brew a decent cup of coffee. A manageable amount of 25g of almonds can be ground at a quick pace (a few minutes). You won't have to worry about waking up everyone. Additionally, it's slim and easy to carry in my pocket, even though that wasn't my original purpose for picking up this product. The grind is more consistent than that from a blade grinder (example shaking the blade grinder periodically to re-grind. Spread out the bean chunks). But be prepared to sweat a little. Working in an office is fine by me, but I don't mind a little exercise. If you are trying to do burpees or something of the same intensity, grinding coffee beans is not as hard as it might seem. The note labels on your specialty coffee won't match up with the blade-cut, but the taste of the coffee will be much better then your standard blade-cut. The ground brew will be held constant (all other variables such as beans, brew method, etc) however. Here are a few tricks I've picked up 2) To keep the outer ceramic burr in place, I used rubber bands to help maintain its stability. Even so, some fines and some bigger chunks will remain, having helped the grinding consistency in a significant way. Compared to an electric burr grinder that costs over $100, it is not as good. 2) If you do not have beefy arms like my own and found it difficult to hold the mill still using your hands alone, you can sit and place it between your legs to keep it leaning as you grind. You'll find that the work will become a lot easier and the grinds will be more consistent when you don't have to hold it still with
3) Keep in mind that lighter roasts will be more difficult I like this grinder because, considering the price of burr grinders in general, it is a good value. Even if I decide to upgrade to an electric burr grinder at some point in the future, I will still have this grinder around for when a manual grinder is required.

There is no such thing as better than Pro
3/5

Having been using a friends standard model for quite some time, I decided to purchase the Pro model as follows Observations 1. There must be a pro that is better than the regular. Almost all of the pro's parts are metal, and I am reducing my plastic usage. In addition, the grinder portion (top) of the Pro has a tiny dent that is supposed to lock the base into place when it is being used. In the grinding process, the base comes loose and can fall off, causing coffee to spill everywhere unless you hold the top as well as the br>The problem is that when you hold the bottom, the little stopper dot goes past the lock, causing damage to the grinder, as described in the instructions. As you can see on the grinder, I haven't been very careful with it, and the scratches indicate its short lifespan. This was the first time that I used plastic to make a product. I can imagine the plastic version will work equally well.
