PLASTIC is used for the ends. I don't like the feeling of plastic and the way it looks. The metallic photos look nothing like the real thing. Since they are shipped in an empty box, they are most likely to arrive broken, especially since the box is very large and has no padding inside.

It is difficult to get screws in since they are right behind the dip for the rod, and the screws themselves strip very easily which is a bad combination. They look really good to me and I like how they look. Despite the fact that the smaller rod is flimsy, they are probably designed to be used with sheer panels, which is what I used so the flimsy rod was no problem. Although the screw placement makes them a chore to install, once they're up they look really nice. I noticed that the rods slide occasionally in open and closed modes because the screws that hold them seem to come loose after awhile or are not tight enough, especially on the smaller rods. Due to the sheer panels not being opened, it was not as much of a problem. As a whole, I think these are very well made and like them. The headphones may not be the best on the market, but they fit in well with what I wanted, look great, and cost about the same as top of the line headphones.
In my living room, I have a wall of windows that invite the afternoon sun through. I eventually placed curtains to prevent this from happening. As it turned out, I needed five of these rods to achieve the look that I was after, so their price was a bonus as well.
