As far as "you get what you pay for," I do not believe it. As much as I understand that the price is much cheaper than most, I would still expect a product free of defects upon opening the box. Upon opening the box, the finials fell to the ground. Broken parts were found in several of the vases. In addition to this, I noticed that the rods had an appearance of having been brushed bronze- The color I ordered was A third thing I noticed was that the rods were scratched and the color was chipped sporadically. An unfortunate turn of events.

This system has a maximum width of 180", but only three brackets are supplied. the rod at approximately 160", but even without curtains it is already bowing between brackets when I lay it flat. I cannot stretch 80” unsupported because they are too thin and flimsy. I can't imagine trying to slide curtains across them, since they bounce and spin with barely a touch. The brackets should have AT LEAST four studs. It has been nearly two weeks since I contacted customer service about this deficiency, asking for more brackets to be sent, and I have not received a In addition, the drywall screws that come with it are useless. Also, the anchors that come with it are too small. There are no screws that trigger the anchor to open to get a solid grip in the wall, and the screws in the anchors are too short to trigger the anchor to open up. In general, I would not trust the rod to hold curtains of any weight with it installed as it is.

Despite the fact that these are so cute and everything in the pictures is accurate, the rods don't twist when threaded to secure them, so they bow in the middle. So there you have it - the advice I would give to someone looking to purchase one. In the end, we drilled holes in the rods and screwed them together (sort of).

As always, I tried to screw it on and hoped that it would at least stay attached for balance's sake, but it keeps falling off and is a very dangerous object if it falls onto the face or eye. It is normally possible to rotate an inner rod until it tightens itself so that the desired length is held.

Editing to reflect the excellent service from Umbra. The first time I sent Umbra an email through their support site, I did not receive a reply, but after I posted this review, they contacted me and provided me with a replacement finial. There are two styles of rod they produce, and I like both. Cappa is my favorite, though the other style is nice too. A good set of instructions, the correct tools, and hardware are provided for easy installation. As soon as I get the two I've ordered, I'll order two more.
