Curtain rods like this usually come with cheaper end caps that are supposed to look more expensive. The new rods weren't very durable and I needed something thicker to hold thick curtains. The old rods were basically the same, so I needed something thicker. It is easy to install these rods because they install the same as any other curtain rod. Although they appear well made and higher end in the photographs, as soon as you see them in person, they appear to be cheap plastic decorations.
