The shelf is good, but the instructions aren't very clear
4/5

I needed a corner shelf that would allow me to run a speaker cable while also supporting the weight of an overweight cat who likes to explore. The setup is simple, but there are a few details that are missing. Caveats: Because my measurements may differ from yours, prepare ahead of time. Please ensure that you are not drilling into an electrical or water line. br>br>- Success Pointers – br>Materials:
- Drill bits include the following: If you're using a screw to go directly into a stud, use 9/64" for the wall anchor and 5/16" for the screw. br>- Tool: a screwdriver br>2 Phillips head - a tape measurebr>a tape measurebr>a tape measurebr>a tape measureb br>Level- Installation: br>br>Pencilbr>br>Installation: br>br>Pencilbr> br>1) Draw a line on the wall where the shelf's top will be. Subtract 3/16" from the total. Otherwise, the shelf will be 3/16" higher than you intended if the cleats aren't at that height. On the wall, draw a level line from the corner to a few inches away. 2) Designate one cleat as the left and the other as the right cleat. Then write "TOP" on one of the long, skinny sides of each. " Why? Because the cleats aren't all the same size and the holes aren't all in the same spot. The holes you drill in the wall will not line up if you mix up left and right, or which way is up. Please see my photos for a better understanding. br>3) The shelf has indentations on the bottom where the cleats are supposed to be screwed into. Make sure the cleats are placed far enough away from the corner. The shelf has long slots that give the impression that you have a lot of flexibility when it comes to cleat placement. The cleats must be mounted at a certain distance from the wall for the screw holes to line up properly. In my case, there were five shelf mounting holes. 5 inches and 14 inches The corner is about 25" away. Ensure that the cleat is positioned between the two screw holes. If you don't, no problem; you'll just have to drill your own holes in the shelf's bottom. br>4) Once you've completed all of the calculations, level the top of the left cleat along the line you drew earlier, and then mark the screw hole locations. To mark the wall, insert a 9/64" drill bit tightly into the holes. Carry on with the right cleat in the same manner. br>5) Drill your holes in the wall after using a stud finder to make sure there are no electrical or plumbing lines where you want to drill. A 9/64" drill bit is your best friend if you hit a stud. Otherwise, drill holes for the included wall anchors with a 5/16" bit. br>6) Insert the wall anchors into the holes (do not worry if you hit four studs instead). br>7) Attach the cleats to the rims. br>8) Place the shelf on the cleats and secure it with the screws that came with it.

This is a great alternative to cutting, finishing, and using visible brackets or support blocks when building a shelf. The laminate surface is very nice, and the small cutout on the back corner was perfect for my previously installed cord concealer channel. I wanted a clean look in a corner of my workout room, and the laminate surface is very nice. Warning: br>br> If you want to reinforce the mounts on this unit to support its full rated weight, you should be reasonably handy and have extra hardware on hand. I would recommend having a drill/driver, a level, a tape measure, and other hardware on hand for any project like this. Otherwise, the included hardware is adequate for knickknacks and light duty applications. On a wood frame, the shelf is made of dense Masonite type fiber board with a textured laminate. The hollow spaces in the back of the shelf allow for the installation of support blocks, which are secured to sheet rock with the supplied butterfly type anchors (2 per side). For each block, I added an extra anchor. br>br>In order to compensate for user error in leveling the supports, there is a small gap between the size of the blocks and the rear openings where the shelf is inserted, which is not ideal for tight mounting. Paint stirring sticks (which I always keep on hand for shimming, etc. ) fit perfectly without needing to be trimmed, and completely snugged the shelf to the blocks- and held it in place until the next step was taken. For added strength, I used short 7/8" black drywall screws on the top and bottom of the shelf instead of the small shelf to block mounting screws that came with it. They have a perfect countersunk appearance and are unnoticeable. For my corner-mounted television, the finished assembly can hold a fairly heavy powered speaker. As someone who enjoys building things from the ground up, I appreciate the time and effort saved by paying a small amount of money for a well-made product; however, if you need detailed instructions on how to install this shelf, you should probably hire a handyman.

Before drilling holes in your wall, make sure you've taken the necessary measurements
4/5

The following are some of the benefits of this shelf: It is small enough to fit into a corner and is extremely durable. white melamine - durable and easy to clean unable to be painted). It's important to keep in mind that the corner must be square or slightly over 90 degrees. A corner that is less than 90 degrees will not fit on the shelf. The shelf, two wooden supports with four long screws, and four small screws to secure the shelf to the supports from below were all included in the package. br>The instructions consist of four line drawings that show how to install the shelf in four different ways. There is no indication of the minimum clearance required for the supports from the corner. The shelf will not slide over the supports if there is insufficient clearance. Only one of the two pre-existing conditions has been proven to be true. A stud in my wall could be lined up with the drilled holes in each support. I had to use screws with drywall anchors for the other hole, as well as a third hole that I drilled myself for added sturdiness. Situations in which neither of the pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing Drilled holes that line up with studs are entirely possible, so take your time and measure carefully before you start - and drywall anchors on hand. br>Although the shelf feels secure after being slid onto the supports, it must still be secured to the supports' bottoms with small screws. That proved to be more difficult than I had anticipated, as the holes in the bottom of the shelf did not go all the way through, which I had overlooked previously. Make sure these tiny holes are drilled all the way through.

It's nice, but it's not for the inexperienced DIYer
4/5

Good quality, but the paint is very thin, so any bumps during shipping, unpacking, or assembly will leave visible marks. The instructions for putting it together were the worst I've ever seen. Ever. If you don't have any carpentry or DIY experience, this will be a nightmare to put together. Consider the following scenario: The drill bit size required for the included wall anchors (5/16 for the ones I received) is not specified. In essence, the instructions are nothing more than "Place together on wall. ".
