No, it doesn't work that way. However, because this clock is so useful to my mother, the fact that it does not automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time is unimportant to us. I bought two clocks for Mom to help her remember the date and time, as well as to know whether it is morning, afternoon, or evening. One is for her den, and the other is for her room. These clocks are ideal for our needs because we can reset them both when the time changes.
It is necessary to connect it to the power source.
Yes. The standard two-pronged design. The plug does not have a third prong.

My father-in-law suffers from dementia, and he finds time to be a difficult concept to grasp. This clock has proven to be extremely useful, and one of the best features, aside from its ease of reading, is that it displays the day of the week as well as the times of morning, afternoon, and night. I would strongly advise anyone caring for a Dementia patient to read this book.
So my wife could use it as an alarm clock, I had to add a button at the top, parallel to the "on/off" knob. She had to take the clock, turn it around, and press the button on the back to turn off the alarm in the morning. It's extremely inconvenient, and it's impossible when the clock hangs.
Because I didn't double-check the size before purchasing, it was several inches smaller than I anticipated. It works well as a bedside clock instead. Because I haven't used the alarm, I can't comment on the volume, but the brightness can be adjusted. Purchased for a dementia patient who would wake up in the middle of the night thinking it was morning. (It's difficult to tell the time; Don't pass judgment until you've dealt with the situation. ) This clock expresses the time of day very clearly - pre- It resolved the issue by using words like dawn, morning, afternoon, and so on. I like how the letters are all one piece, rather than being digitally separated at the curves. It's easier to read as a result of this.
My husband, who is in his eighties and has vision problems, will love this clock. He no longer asks me what time it is all of the time. Even from a distance of several feet, the clock is easy to read. The fact that it includes the date and day of the week is a nice bonus. I'm also pleased that the time does not have to be reset when the device is unplugged and plugged back in.
You can tell what time it is just by looking at it. And, for those of us who are retired and busy, it's nice to have on it because it's easy to lose track of the day of the week. This was the sole reason I purchased it. We have a lot going on. The days slip away from you, especially during the holiday season. I can tell what day it is just by looking at it.
Amazon's product explanation is, once again, misleading. It's advertised as being suitable for a grandparent or a person with dementia, but it's incredibly difficult to use and set up. Furthermore, I'd be surprised if it's still working in three months, as the plastic and the way you have to program it makes you think it should have been priced at around $9 instead of 49! Don't buy anything and instead look for something of reasonable quality that your elderly relatives can use!.
This clock is one of my favorites. I work and sleep at different times of the day, and I'm not always sure whether it's am or pm. I can tell what day of the week it is and whether it is day or night now.
As another customer pointed out, there isn't enough space in the readout between the month and the date once you get to November. Ours appears to be November 3 rather than November 13, which will be of no help to my befuddled mother! I'll be returning it.
