Questions & Answers
I'm in Uruguay and things are going well. What questions do you have?
This device does not keep track of the temperature inside the house. It is possible to set up a routine for it to turn on the heater at a specific time, but this would necessitate the use of a smart plug connected to Alexa. Check to see if that is possible with your heater.
I've found that when the power comes back on after a power outage, the Alexa-controlled lights stay on. If you're going on a long trip and don't want to be inconvenienced, simply turn off the light switches that power each of the bulbs.
Yes. The echo dot 3rd generation and the echo dot 4th generation get along swimmingly.

I have a couple of Gen 3 dots, one of which was next to the bed, along with a clock radio, in my bedroom. The clock radio was only used as a clock because the echo dot could play any radio station and set an alarm. As a result, I decided to give the new 4 a shot with the clock. Given some of the negative reviews about voice recognition and brightness (one person complained that it was too bright at night), I was a little hesitant to purchase it. When I plugged in the new Echo Dot, Alexa recognized it right away. Voice recognition is not a problem. In terms of brightness, it varies depending on how much other light is present. Most importantly, the echo dot dims to a softly readable display when all the lights are turned off at night - Certainly not the beacon inferred by one reviewer. I'm very pleased with it, and I received a free smart light bulb as well.
I'm in love with my clock echo dot! When you inquire about the temperature, it is displayed on the screen. The brightness of the display is also affected by the amount of light in the room. You can see the display clearly in a dark room without feeling like your eyes are burning. The only reason I gave it four stars was because of this. It would be nice if it had a temperature sensor like the standard echo. It would be far more useful if I could program the thermostats to respond to my bedroom's echo dot. If you don't make it too loud, the sound quality is quite good. It's about as good as two small speakers can get. It isn't tinny or distorted in the least. There are clear highs and good mids, with a hint of bass. This speak isn't going to make you thump, but it's perfect for sleeping music.
The sound quality is adequate, but not exceptional. I like using the app's equalizer to adjust the bass a little. There's a problem with the microphone. I'm wondering if the sphere shape causes sound to reverberate around the base, making the microphone unable to hear me when I ask a question. My standard gen 4 seems to have a bigger problem with this. If the unit is playing any kind of music at any volume, I usually have to raise my voice to a yell to get any response from it. This one came with a free Sengled light bulb, which was thrown out because it wouldn't turn on. There was no internet, no light, and nothing at all. I can see why it was offered as a free download.
This works in the same way as the standard Echo Dot. but with the addition of a clock We use it in the family room to keep track of chores, projects, and cooking. It's fantastic to be able to communicate with it and have it set the timer for us. br>br>On the other hand. There are multiple dots, echos, and shows. They'll take turns answering for each other. Because there are four sets of names, if we call one of them, the house is small enough that two or the wrong one may answer. The dedicated "Alexas" for the bathroom Flexes, in particular. br>br>For our purposes, the sound is excellent. We discovered that number four was far too loud and echoed. However, number three was a little too gentle. We were ecstatic to discover that it could be set to 3. br>br>Kids love to ask, "Who is speaking?" " It's usually incorrect because no one in our family can distinguish between the voices. "Is this Susie talking?" I'd like to know. (My name is Sandra, and I'd like to introduce myself. ) ) Sandra, how are you? " It's aggravating when we ask for your favorite music. We all sound so similar that real people have to ask who is speaking on the phone. br>br>Smoothly connected to our internet and retrieved previously stored data. br>br>I suppose Amazon now has all of our personal information. br>br>We find it strange that it "doesn't listen to protect your privacy," but far too often, the products we're discussing end up in the suggested for you section. Perhaps FB is listening in, as I believe I attempted to connect them once. But it's strange to talk about needing to look at "shower caddies" for the tub and then see shower caddies in the "suggestions" the next time you see it. "br>br>It's a great way to keep track of what you need to buy. We have "Groceries" connected to the Cozi app, and it simply adds to the bottom what it thinks it hears. br>br>Kids are constantly inquisitive about the weather and dress accordingly. br>br>Overall, I'm quite pleased.
I already had a new Echo Dot, which I had bought on sale during the holidays. I purchased this for the nightstand across the room, and it was simple to pair with the Alexa app. I didn't like how dark the room was. The device was discovered in the Alexa app, and the LED readout was easily lightened or darkened. When I ask for the weather, the LED will display a timer that will ask me to wake up in 30 minutes or a brief display of the temperature. With those optional add-ons, it's a great deal at $39! I went with Amazon Unlimited Music for 6 months for free. Dot Clock is a great company to work with, and the Unlimited Music package is a great value.
Because it's actually too bright for me, I gave it five stars for brightness. In reality, I'd give it one star for brightness because I don't like it. I had it set to the lowest setting and ended up having to set it to turn off the clock at 10 p. m. and turn it back on at 6 a. m. to avoid disturbing my sleep. I simply ask Alexa for the time during those hours if I need to check the time, which defeats the purpose of having a bedside clock. I wish you could change the display's color to red instead of the bright blue it is now. Also, my 3rd generation Echo Dot in my master bath picks up my voice before this one on my nightstand, which is about a foot from my head when I'm lying in bed, so I have to whisper to get it to respond. Sound quality is good, but I'd like to see changes to the display before buying the next generation. I was pleased to receive the smart bulb as part of a package deal, and it performs as expected.
Even though the echo dot to generation with a clock came out to the market for an awful affordable price, I thought I would buy something the same quality as before. When I turn on the sound, I find that the microphones on this device give a very low sensitivity.
