Questions & Answers

Is it better to use Edwin Jagger or Parker Silvertip with old Bond Taylor?

I have the Parker silver tip, as well as Taylor of Old Bond St., which I've been using for quite some time. They're made for each other. I would strongly suggest it.

Is the ivory on the handle genuine?

It's not real ivory; it's imitation ivory.

What is the weight of the object?

It's big enough for a man's hand but light enough to carry around - approximately 5 oz

I'm looking for a brush with a fairly long handle. Why don't you list the dimensions for this brush on Amazon like you do for most of the others?

I use the brush and am pleased with it. The brush head is medium in size, and the handle is medium to small in size but comfortable to hold.

This is the one that Goldilocks would have chosen
5/5

I'm not one of those guys who has tried a dozen different brushes before settling on one. There are three of them: One that was significantly more expensive (from Art of Shaving), one that was significantly less expensive, and the Parker Silvertip Badger brush. The Parker, in my opinion, is exactly what you need. This brush has a better feel to it than the Art of Shaving silvertip badger brush. Don't even consider the "badger" brush, which costs less than $20. It's not at all comfortable, and it's difficult to evenly distribute lather. There's no need for me to look for a brush elsewhere. Parker hit the nail on the head with this one.

The brush is fantastic, but the glue isn't up to par
4/5

On my face, it feels fantastic. The handle is the perfect size for my hand, but I do have two complaints. The first grievance is as follows: I wish the handle was made of a more comfortable material. When wet, the current handle is extremely slick. I'll use a rubber compound that's either the same color as the handle (or a slightly lighter shade, like a light tan) or a slightly different shade. That way, after I rinse out the shaving cream, I can shake the water out of the brush without worrying about losing my grip on it and sending it careening into the sink, damaging the handle (as happened with my previous brush). The other point of contention is the reason for the four-star rating. Before I could use it, the bristles had fallen out of the handle. They stayed clumped together (minus the handle) as shown in the photo, but the bristles did not adhere to the handle due to the lack of glue. I just used some Gorilla Glue and a little moisture, and it's been fine since.

Holds the lather as well as the bristles
5/5

This is the second time I've used this brush to shave. The first was a different brand of badger bristles that were 100% pure. This silvertip is a lot softer than the previous one. It's stiff, though, because it makes and holds a lot of lather. The fact that my first brush shed 20-plus hairs was what prompted me to purchase another. I might lose one a week if I'm lucky with this one, which has 30 bristles per shave. I've been using this brush for a few months and would recommend it at this time. It's a little on the pricey side, but I'm glad I purchased it. Another thing to note is that, while the handle is "ivory" (obviously fake), it does not appear to be ivory. It has a white translucent plastic appearance rather than a creamy ivory appearance. Having said that, I still enjoy the look.

100% Silvertip Badger Brush Parker 100% Parker 100 Parker 100 Parker 100 Parker UPDATE: This razor has been in my possession for two years
5/5

The brush isn't losing any hairs anymore, and it's still building a nice lather every day. I would definitely buy this brush again, but I don't think I'll need it for a long time. br>br>- br>br>I've had this brush for about 11 months and figured now was a good time to give it a review. To begin with, the included stand was made of cheap plastic, and the brush handle was too large to fit into the stand opening; second, the included stand was made of cheap plastic, and the brush handle was too large to fit into the stand opening; third, the included stand was made of cheap plastic, and the brush handle was too large to I couldn't even put it to use. The brush itself does exactly what it should- To shave, make a lather. Because this is my first silver tipped brush, I can't speak to its texture or usability in comparison to the more expensive silver tipped brushes on the market. The bristles falling out is the only other major setback I've encountered. I've had this brush for nearly 11 months, as I mentioned earlier. I'm in the military, so I shave at least five times per week. I've lost at least one hair from this brush every time I've used it, which includes this morning. I'm going to end up with a brush that is completely useless. This might be a good entry-level silver tipped brush for someone else, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again if I had the chance.

For what it's worth, it's a step up from my old brush
5/5

I'm a new wet shaver, and I wanted a brush to go with my new Edwin Jagger de89, which has a black handle. Take this with a grain of salt because I only have an old cheap boars hair brush to compare it to. br>br>Pros: br>Fits my new razor perfectly. br>Only a few strands of hair have fallen out (2 weeks of sporadic use, 3 weeks of continuous use). 5 times per week). br>Animal odor was eliminated after a 15-minute dish soap soak and a 24-hour lather break-in period. in the method br>Soft in a good way. br>Holds a significant amount of liquid. br>Handle is easy to hold. Backbone is sufficient to lather both hard (Williams) and soft (razorock xxx) soaps as long as they are bloomed first. br>br>Cons: The brush holder that comes with it is very inexpensive. br>It won't fit in my razor/brush stand. br>It didn't smell bad until it got wet (I didn't think it needed to be washed until I tried to use it). br>Loft, in my opinion, is a little too short for mug soap.

A silvertip badger brush can cost hundreds of dollars, so this brush is a steal
5/5

This was only about $60, and it's fantastic. I only use this brush when I use Tabac soap stick. If you've always wanted to try a silvertip, this is the one to do it with. It's a good brush at a good price.

Brush is fantastic
5/5

This Parker Silvertip Badger brush is one of my favorites. The handle of my VDH brush, which came with the set, had separated from the brush. I bought an AOS kit solely for the brush. For about three or four shaves, the AOS brush had a slight order to it. In addition, as I was applying lather, the bristles did not go flat. Let me clarify that this is a standard badger hair brush, not a silvertip, and it costs $55. I paid a little more for the set from AOS because I needed the brush while I waited for the Parker to arrive. br>br>The Parker silvertip's bristles stay up while applying the lather, and the brush has no odor and holds enough water for a good lather. br>br>Both the Parker and AOS brushes fit on the knob of my VDH brush and razor stand, not the knot. br>I can't say this is the best because I haven't tried other silvertip brushes, but it's a good start for anyone who wants to try a badger silvertip brush without spending a lot of money.

It's incredible! I was blown away by the difference between canned gel and a brush and cream on my first use of a shaving brush
5/5

It's a completely unique experience. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY SHAVING CREAM IN A CAN! This brush is exceptionally soft and well-made. It lathered up nicely. I'm very pleased with it. I wish I had purchased this much earlier. (A quick note: this comes with its own stand, but I wanted to use it on my chrome stand, and it didn't fit well, so I had to buy a bigger chrome stand. ).
