Questions & Answers

How can i trust Amazon when there is a disclaimer that I should not buy the kit if I fear it might not work?

Ancestry sells this, but Amazon ships it. Based on what others above have mentioned, it's sold by Ancestry, (It's the same here as most things. A brand or a seller sells their products on Amazon &amp eBay There is a shipping charge for Amazon. It took me just a few minutes to receive my results, and I am thrilled It should be a no-brainer for my son to have my back on any given I love the ease of the process and the fun of it! The product I received was much better than I expected. *br> *br>You can trust Amazon 100%. It will cost you like $40 to purchase it from Ancestry.com (I think it's actually more than $40) and you'll have to pay shipping. I purchased them from here because it was so easy! We wish you the best of

The kit claims to show info regarding SNPs such as mTHFR mutations, but does it?

A test such as AncestryDNA or 23 and Me's "Ethnicity + Health" does give you info as to what gene mutations you have as well as what health issues you are predisposed to due to that A mutation in my MTHFR gene, for example, leads to a risk of kidney or liver failure. figured out where it came from and who gave it to me A doctor who knows anything about it is pretty hard to find. It is unfortunate.

The DNA you provide during the test is extracted. What happens to it then?

It does not suffer any damage. Alternatively, you may send it under a fictitious name (a few in my family did this, using a pet name as the street name). The only downside is you will not be able to connect to any possible relatives that way. In the end, I know DNA can be obtained from anything I touch or use in that way - if someone needs it, they can get it. As he shrugged

There is a requirement to sign up for Ancestry. Is their online site free or do you have to pay for it?

The results are not financial in nature, so there is no need to pay yet again. A DNA subscription can be extremely useful if you want to find out how you relate to others based upon your DNA profile. A 50% discount can be obtained for the first 6 months of use, but you need to ask. Ancestry was the means I used to find my father, by the way.

If you want 23&Me, go for it
3/5

Having done 23 & 24 I was curious to see how this test compared The results of the survey disappointed me rather a bit. The 23 company specialized more on the medical conditions side of dna, while Ancestry was more on, well, everything else. The ancestors of your family. 23 provided more information about my ancestors as well as details about their health. A part of Ancestry that I didn't like was having to spend so much money for the test and then have to subscribe for an excessive amount to continue using them. Whenever you purchase an DNA test kit, they should give you a year's free access to their online family trees and community.

The family tree
3/5

A family tree. As of January 3, 2019, com has received my kit The results should be available between 4 and 6 weeks after the test. Upon contacting Ancestry on January 31st, they acknowledged that we have received your kit, however they did tell me that since you are 74 years old, older people take longer to analyze. A quick call to Ancestry today (2/11/2019) revealed that my DNA sample was just received by their laboratory in Ireland, five weeks and five days less than the maximum time for results of six weeks. Among my two kits, one was for myself, and the other was for my 19-year-old granddaughter. It took her less than four weeks to get her results, both of which were received in early January. A new edition of Ancestry will be released on March 3, 2019. I think my grand daughter's saliva was more fresh than mine, as she is younger. A family history representative for Ancestry has the audacity to suggest that kits purchased directly from an Ancestry company would have been handled more quickly. Many of them have experienced problems with Amazon-sold kits. Moreover, you will need to get your results from Amazon by calling them. In fact, the two people had familial ties (Dum and Dummer) which meant the circumstances were equally disappointing. A supervisor was warned that the subordinate had shown his lack of management skills by using all of this language in the conversation with Amazon's managers. When the supervisor suggested residual training, it was the first time he had ever done so. Since the situation was mishandled, they didn't try to help me move my study forward and showed no interest in it at all. You may consider going to another company for your ancestral DNA testing, there are more reputable companies with educated, competent professionals available to take care of Additionally, Amazon's management has taken my report of the above into consideration and is now conducting their own investigation. The company believes that we want to be satisfied with our customers and to treat them with dignity and respect. Therefore, we cannot work with companies that forget these qualities. The company offered to reimburse me, but I rejected it since this was not a financial issue. It also involves Ancestry's blaming of Amazon for its own mistakes and lying to its customers. Lindsey, Bobbie Jean Hirstius.

A few details and no explanation are For my parents, I purchased both sets of AncestryDNA kits last year

I was not happy with the results. It provides very little detail and does not explain the origin of the name. The next time I order, there won't be.

You can also check Italian accuracy by choosing another test
3/5

The purpose of this test was to compare my 23"s These are the results I got. Here are my 23 and 24 year old photographs The results of my DNA test showed I am 40% Italian, and my dad is 23% When I took ancestry with my first cousin on my father's side, I turned out to be 15% Italian and 25% French. Ancestry was taken by my mother as well. She had 0% French (which meant she did not have any French ancestry). In other words, it was supposed to imply that my father is at least 50% French. It matched to Italy 40% and matched to Sicily for my first cousin who took this test! My test indicated that I do not even have a trace of Sicily in me. Although it matched my first cousin on my father's side perfectly to our Italian heritage and matched her to our Sicilian group, it didn't do that for The French side of my dad's family couldn't possibly be 50%. They took the 23 & 4 my paternal grandparents did Tests I conducted showed that 90% of the participants are 23 & 24 The two tests were such a vast difference from each other that I was amazed. So after nearly half of my family (grandparents, uncles, cousins, my mother & dad) took 23 & I and half of the group took Ancestry we realized that 23&aposs records were the most reliable. The results from me matched everyone perfectly with our Italian heritage, however the results from AncestryDNA were scattered all over the place, with no correlation between anyone's results. There have been many articles I have read and reviews where people with many strong Italian or French ancestry lines were labeled with very little or no Italian heritage by AncestryDNA and a significant amount of French heritage. Others have complained that their Italian was barely detectable in their tests, despite the fact that they had generations and generations of relatives living My feelings are just not in line with how 23" is handled When I saw how many people had the same issues with AncestryDNA and their Italian sample, I just had to come to terms with the fact that we are all Italian.

Purchase was a bad decision
3/5

A $20 extra was given to me to get the +trait kit for my husband in addition to the kit that I got for myself and I am happy with the results! The lady who answered the phone at Ancestry's customer service acted like she had no knowledge of the products she was supposed to know about. Ancestry kits will never be added to my shopping cart again, and I would never recommend them to others! They offer no customer service, which makes me wonder how accurate their results are.

A very poor piece of A family tree
3/5

There was no detailed DNA test result provided by com. Rather than specifying percentages by country, they just offered the continent you are on on the map. It is impossible to see a breakdown of more than 30 countries on the map. It was a shock for me to realize that- It was not possible for the advertised company to provide detailed DNA results like some companies not well known to consumers. I was so disappointed when I saw these poor Ancestry test results. Due to an issue with the second kit purchased for friends as a gift, I decided to return it.

Unfortunately, the results were not good! As far as my results are concerned, they are not at all comparable to the records my parents had of our family
