Questions & Answers
Yes. Despite the fact that it was designed for cigar humidors, it can also be used to measure indoor humidity. They are extremely accurate and can be calibrated with a Boveda 75% calibration kit or the salt test. To do the salt test, just put table salt in something like a bott It shouldn't puddle like you were making paste. Place that along with the hygrometer in a ziploc bag and wait 24 hours. It should read 75% RH. If not, simply press the set button until it enters calibration mode, then press the min/max button until your desired offset is displayed, then press set once more. For example, if it's reading 74%, you'd like 1%.
Is a warranty really that important? It's only $20, dude.
To be sure, Keep in mind that the sun and other heat sources may have an impact on the reading. I'd recommend keeping your instruments, as well as this hygrometer, out of direct sunlight.
A year and a half ago, I bought two of them. I've discovered that I need to use 1 on both. I used a jar full of 62% boveda packs for calibration because I already have them. Now that I'm in need of a third, I'm going to buy another from this company. The batteries have lasted for over 24 hours of continuous use, which is a testament to the unit's dependability.

Mine is in the middle of a room with a constant temperature of 55 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. br>(Neither the inside nor the outside temperature varies much. ) )br>Occasionally, I'll get maximum temperatures of 80°F overnight. br>The high temperature was 97°F one night and 114°F the next. br>Overnight lows of 40°F have also been recorded. br>These readings can't possibly be accurate. br>br>The humidity readings appear to be accurate, but given the ridiculous thermometer, it's difficult to trust them. br>br>I had high hopes for this unit. br>br>In addition, 3- is mentioned in the description. Humidity averages by day temperature in degrees Celsius br>I haven't come across any averages, and neither does the user manual. Furthermore, the email address provided for warranty inquiries is invalid.
Hundreds of dollars have been spent on various types of hygrometers over the years. None of them were even close to being correct, and they were all inconsistent. Only hygrometers that are too large to fit inside most medium to small humidors are an exception. Caliber IV appears on the scene. I have a lot of humidors, so I decided to buy two at once and try them out. See the photo of a Boveda calibration kit with two Caliber IV hygrometers inside being tested in the attachment. It's difficult to find a more precise and consistent measurement than this.
I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if I'm just unlucky. I ordered one and it was off by about 2015% percentage percentage percentage percentage percentage percentage I then ordered a replacement, which was calibrated to the same level as the first. I was able to verify the accuracy by using a 69% calibrated pack, another hygrometer, and the salt method. I'm not sure if I wish to try to order another one, send it back, or just notice that it is off 2015% (about 10% after I do the 6% adjustment). br>br>It's also worth noting that the first one had to be returned because it didn't come with a box or a battery tab. The second had a box and a tab that could be used to turn on the battery, but it was still turned off.
One of the statements is false. I wanted to make sure this hygrometer was accurate before I bought it, so I bought two of them. As a result, I bought the Boveda One as well. Calibration Kit for a Step Hygrometer - 75% RH. Your hygrometer's accuracy can be tested with the calibration kit. To test your hygrometer, place it in the bag and wait 24 hours. If your hygrometer is accurate it should read 75%. After 24 hours it never read above 66%,
% The accuracy of this hygrometer can be adjusted using the calibration feature. However, the change is limited to /-. 6% of the total That is, it lacks sufficient adjustment range to compensate for its inaccuracy. br>br>I then placed an order for a second hygrometer to see if it was any more accurate than the first. The "set" button, on the other hand, does not function. So, after ordering two of these, one of them is inaccurate, and the other has a broken set button. Needless to say, I am underwhelmed and will seek out a different brand.
It wasn't calibrated when it was delivered. I tried calibrating it with 75% and 32% kits, but it is off by - The calibration allows only 6% RH of adjustment at 7% RH of adjustment at 7% RH at 7% RH at 7% RH at 7% RH% As a result, calibrating it is impossible, and as a result, it is completely useless to me. I wish I had kept the box so I could return it, but then this garbage would end up in the hands of someone else. br>br>This was a complete waste of money because I still have to do math in order to get a ready. I'd be just as happy with a decent $2 Chinese analog hygrometer.
Analog hygrometers, which are usually included in most humidors, are not recommended. I tested the unit with a 75% boveda pack because it was spot on right out of the box. I simply keep it on my humidor's shelf. Because I opened the door and placed it on the top shelf to take the photo, the hydrometer's temperature and humidity are lower.
It appears to be Amazon's only reliable hygrometer. I've tried a lot of them. In the Boveda tests, this one was only 1% off. It also has the option of displaying only the /- symbol. an amount from its calibration, so I just set it to show 1 and now it is 100% accurate 100% of the time.
I own about 2010 hygrometers at this.
This makes me fearful that the calibration will be off again in the not-too-distant future. I'll keep testing, but for the sake of reliability, I bought a digital hygrometer. So far, I'm not pleased. I expected this to be a device that I could set and forget.
