Chard is one of my favorite vegetables, but it's notoriously difficult to come by in supermarkets. It has a mild flavor similar to spinach, but it holds up better to cooking and does not fall apart as easily as spinach does. It's fantastic, and if you like greens, but haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. br>br>Inspiration for a Recipe: Remove the stems and tear the leaves with your hands into small pieces. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil and toss in the greens for one minute. Cook for an additional minute with a garlic clove, minced (or pressed). Cover with a quarter-cup of water. 7 minutes in a hot oven Remove the cover and stir in two teaspoons soy sauce and one teaspoon lemon juice before serving. It's delicious!.
It's amazing to be able to buy Swiss chard fresh from Amazon and have it be so crisp and fresh that it lasted over a week before I cooked it. br>br>Swiss chard has always been a favorite of mine, and my mother used to make it with a little cheese sauce so that we kids would eat it. I feel like it's a forgotten vegetable because you can boil it, but not too softly, so the new nutrients are preserved, and then mix it with yogurt and garlic for a great appetizer; my grandparents used to make it with eggs for lunch. It's similar to spinach, but it has less iron, and it's just a lovely tasting green without any strong taste to it. I don't want to use the word bland because then it's pointless to eat it, and it's so good for If you get those, boil them and it's really cool. You mix it with plain yogurt and it turns pink. It's just a really healthy product, but the most important thing to me was that I could get it fresh from Amazon and it actually arrived in such great condition that I usually have to go to farmers markets for!.
Fresh has provided me with chard on several occasions. It's usually just as good as what I'd get at the farmer's market, and it's usually less expensive; occasionally, I get a bunch that's a little older or damaged. If something goes wrong, Amazon is great at issuing refunds.
I buy a lot of chard because it's an important ingredient in my weekly juices, but I'm always surprised when I get a good batch of fresh ones. They're usually limp, wrinkled, and old when they show up. I'm not sure why the workers decided to include them in my order when they're clearly defective produce. They can't possibly get that bad in the time it takes to pack and deliver them.
Everything outperformed any grocery store in terms of quality and freshness, as well as size. I was blown away and encouraged all of my friends to give it a try. I almost always use fresh produce, and I adore the taste. My chard is still green and beautiful; it was a large bunch, and it has held up well. I only use a couple of leaves at a time.
If I had a choice, I'd give it no stars!.
I like it raw, thinly chopped with a squeeze of lemon. I finish it all in one sitting. I make a bed of this with some cooked vegetables on top, and I'll occasionally add shredded chicken rice. However, the majority of the food is vegetables. It is fantastic.
