Questions & Answers

Is this the same clam chowder that can be found in Cedar Key, Florida?

Yes- Tony's Clam Chowder is a recipe created by Tony's Seafood Restaurant in Cedar Key, Florida.

Is this the same chowder that Larry's Giant Subs serves?

I'm not sure, but it's the best chowder I've ever tasted. My husband and I visited Cedar Key, Florida, a tiny town with Tony's, the original small restaurant. Amazing! Do not make any changes to the mixing instructions! Enjoy.

Is the $6 price tag justified? 29 / 1 cup half-and-half, plus butter? For soup from a can? I was simply curious. ?

Was it two cans of Half and Half or just one? But it is, without a doubt, the best clam chowder I have ever tasted. I've traveled the length of the east coast, from Maine to Florida, and this place outperforms them all. We used to buy it at Publix when we lived in Florida, but now that we've moved up north, the only way to get it is through Amazon. I'm grateful they were able to sell it, and I can't express my gratitude enough. I brought a can from New York to my sun, and he raved about it. In a restaurant, a bowl of soup costs how much? 00- To get four or five large bowls for six people, multiply 700 by six. It's well worth the money at 29 cents for a can.

Do you simply empty the contents of the can into a bowl, heat it up, and eat it? Is it possible to eat it without mixing it with other ingredients?

In a saucepan, combine all of the ingredients according to the directions on the can, being careful not to overheat and using half and half rather than regular milk. milk. It has a significant impact!

It's absolutely incredible and mind-boggling
5/5

I have to be completely honest; I am very picky and critical of what I say, and it has to be excellent or I will speak up. br> When I ordered the soup, I read the description and saw that they were three-time champions, but that was just talk. br> I adore seafood, and I've sampled some of the best New England clam chowder right here on the cape. br> And I have to say, my questions were not only answered, but completely dismissed. br>The soup is incredible, with marvolas, a rich flavor and texture, and plenty of clams. I could go on, but I need to get back to my soup. If you've ever had a good clam chowder from England, you'll know what I'm talking about. From the first bite, you'll be pleasantly surprised; don't forget your crackers, though. I made a mistake, but it was quickly corrected. Have fun with it. br>I will definitely purchase again, and Tony now has a lifelong customer. Enjoybr>br>Part 2br>br>Had a second bowl and must say this is it, get off the bus, lolbr>I put the soup in the pot, add the spoon of butter, the half and half to the top of the can, add the directions state, then I pour it into the pot and mix it before I start heading it, then turn the stove on as directions state and just before it boils, stop, let sit for 3 or 4 minutes that's just me I've added the photos; I'm sure any butter or good margarine will do, and the half-and-half will work as well. 😊.

The best chowder you'll ever have from a can
5/5

My mother's family has been in Rhode Island for 19 generations, and I grew up eating outstanding clam chowder from my grandmother. I've spent my entire life on the west coast, and there's nothing that comes close to it. That's how I figured things would be. Tony's was recommended to me by my aunt. Definitely repair it the way they suggest - with a tablespoon of half-and-half and a pat of butter It's fantastic and completely genuine. It's hard for me to believe it came from a can. It has a nice rich, creamy texture, great clam flavor, and a little spicy bite, though some of the clam pieces can be a little rubbery (it is canned, after all). I'm not going to hold my breath for New England perfection from a can. That's my only gripe, and it happens frequently enough in good restaurants that it's hardly a gripe. This is the best canned chowder I've ever had, and it far surpasses any clam chowder I've ever had outside of New England.

Excellent
5/5

This isn't your ordinary clam chowder from New England. It is a significant improvement. It's creamy, spicy, savory, and filling all at the same time. This is the best soup I've ever had out of a can. It's a bit pricey, but it's delicious. I'm going to buy more.

Exceptional
5/5

I've won a Gold Medal for my own clam chowder at the Sacramento County Fair, so I'm familiar with it. In fact, I traveled to New England solely to sample clam chowder in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, New York City (Manhattan style with tomatoes), Rhode Island, and Connecticut, before spending an entire week in Massachusetts, from Sandwich to Cape Cod, including Barnstable, Dennis, Yarmouth, Wellfleet, and Provincetown. They were all fantastic, and this one is no exception. The only difference is that instead of milk, you'll want to use heavy cream. You can use as much butter as you want; for a 15 oz can, I use about an entire stick. A pinch of Malabar black pepper, freshly ground, is a nice addition. You can even add a smidgeon of Worcestershire sauce to the mix. Pour this over a warm slice of sourdough bread and top with fresh dill, and you've got yourself a real winner. You'll want to slap your mother after hearing that.

Great chowder, but exorbitantly priced; stores are no longer carrying it, and no one knows why
5/5

I make it all the time--it's my Sunday night go-to, along with grilled cheese. to the restaurant for dinner In comparison to store prices, the price charged on line is ridiculous——- If you can't find it elsewhere, I consider paying three times the store price to be a rip-off.

awesome! This is the most delicious clam chowder I've ever tasted
5/5

There are two obvious differences: it's spicy and orange, rather than creamy white. It's fantastic. I'd ordered six cans, and after licking the spoon off the first one and biting into it, I told my wife I wanted to order six more. She refused, but I have no intention of running out of the stuff because it's delicious.

Damaged
3/5

I've never left a bad review before, but each of these six cans was shattered. Each can has large dents, not just a small ding. Tony's Clam Chowder is always good, but I ordered these as a surprise for my brother, who lives in the mountains and can't get Tony's. I was embarrassed that such a damaged item had been sent as a gift, and I was extremely disappointed in Amazon for sending these out. Amazon used to have excellent quality control, so we paid a premium for seconds or throwbacks. Very let down.

Delicious, if a little pricey, but a little inconvenient
4/5

Some people complained that this was too salty in their reviews. I'm willing to bet they didn't mix it with one can of half-and-half as instructed. The flavor is really good if you follow the recipe exactly. However, most canned clam chowders don't require the addition of half-and-half. You basically just open the can, pour it into a bowl, microwave it, and eat it. For someone like me who is lazy, having to buy half and half is a bit inconvenient.
