The new corn chowder is a slam dunk. It's nothing like the yellow-label recipe from the past! I've always loved Snow's corn chowder, and whatever changes they've made to the recipe are a disgrace.
The Snow's Condensed Corn Chowder does not contain gluten.

Selected User Reviews For Bumble Bee Snow's Condensed New England Clam Chowder, 15 Ounce Can 12 Count
Since I was a kid, I've preferred this brand of canned Clam Chowder. br>There is a significant difference between the Condensed New England version, which I purchased, and the New England Ready-to-Serve version, which I did not purchase. Version to serve. br>In my neighborhood, the Ready-to-Use items are the only ones available. Because I prefer the Condensed version to the Serve Version, I don't purchase it very often. br>I like this Condensed Version because you can use real, whole milk in it, which makes it even more delicious! I also add a small amount of real butter because I enjoy it! br>I'll eat the whole thing with a slice or two of toasted REAL sourdough bread, slathered in butter! What a wonderful opportunity. br>I'm overjoyed that this Condensed New England version is available for purchase on Amazon. br>By the way, if you want it thicker, follow the directions on the can and bring it to a boil. Stand there stirring it to keep it from boiling over or scorching! br>If you want it thicker and more flavorful, use a little less milk. br>I like mine exactly how the recipe instructs, because that's how I grew up eating it! br>However, don't forget to add the butter, because everything tastes better with butter;.
I'm extremely dissatisfied with this outcome. Snow's clam chowder was one of my favorites for a long time, but it's no longer available. This is not the same product as before; as soon as you open the can, you can tell something is wrong. Only a small amount of potatoes and clams are visible in this very yellow thin product. I understand why they would skip the clams, but what about the potatoes? It's very thin and bland when made according to the directions; I'll try it again without the milk, but I'm not optimistic. br>I'm going to donate the majority of these cans to a food bank and experiment with a different brand.
Snow's New England Condensed Clam Chowder is something I've been buying for a long time. It's been out of stock for a long time, so I started buying a popular brand that tastes great and I started to like it. I saw this 12-pack of Snows on Amazon and decided to buy it last week, so I made a can for lunch today. Well, it's the worst clam chowder I've ever had, and now that I'm stuck with 11 more cans, I guess I'll have to donate them. This chowder is garbage, so don't waste your money on it. Please believe me when I say that.
I guess this is Snow's Clam Chowder- sort of- However, it appears to be a poor imitation of the SNOWS I used to eat as a kid growing up on the East Coast; back then, SNOWS was condensed and you had to add your own milk - However, it had a lot more "substance" (potatoes, clams, etc. ) than this one. Completed a can of soup (no milk required). Except for the name, this isn't really a chowder. Chowders have a higher percentage of clams and potatoes, so this isn't a chowder by that definition - it's mostly milk soup. Fill each can with a small amount of clams and potato pieces the size of a dime, about 3 tablespoons worth. It's not my idea or memory of real SNOWS Clam Chowder from back in the day. It's a real shame. I will not purchase it in the future.
Don't expect this clam chowder to taste like the kind you'd find at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco or Monterey, but it's tasty nonetheless. It's a little heavy on the potatoes and light on the clams, but it's still delicious. Simply warm it slowly while stirring constantly. Serve with a baguette from France.
Snow's chowder has been a favorite of mine for a long time. This is a new version that I am not familiar with. It has been completed- heat- as well as serve I'm used to the condensed version and didn't realize there was a difference when I placed my order. I'm afraid I don't care for it as much as I used to.
I also add cream to the soup to make it more like the original, and I make corn chowder out of it. Fish chowder is enhanced by the addition of fish chunks. Recommend using this as a soup base to which you can add your own family favorites.
I've been enjoying Snow's NE Clam Chowder for decades, as have many of the other Amazon reviews. I ordered the Ready-to-Serve instead of the Ready-to-Eat. serve instead of condensed, but I've since purchased a couple of condensed cans. Regrettably, I have to concur with the majority of the negative feedback. This is not at all like the Snow's I remember. The Ready-to-Use The main ingredient appears to be a starchy paste, with a few potatoes and rubbery clam pieces thrown in for good measure. I used only half the milk, some cream, a couple of pats of butter, plenty of pepper, and some crumbled, cooked bacon in the condensed version. br>br>I'm not going to buy any more Ready-to-Eat. When I don't have time to make it from scratch, I'll buy the condensed version.
