Heck, it's salty. However, take out what you'll need for the week and place it in a mason jar, replacing the water 4- 10 times, to taste, then add olive oil, garlic, white wine vinegar, and spices of your choice; I got mine the same day I saw this tip on The Sons and Daughters of Italy Facebook page. So that's probably as trustworthy as it gets.
It is not necessary to keep it refrigerated. It has a tight-fitting lid and seal, as well as a gizmo on the inside to keep the olives submerged in the brine, which is so salty that any germs trying to live in it would be double-dare! I've had mine on the counter for a few months and it's still going strong.
These are something I've been purchasing for a long time. I give them as Christmas gifts as well. I've never had any that I'd describe as mushy. They are no longer as firm as they once were due to pitting, which is to be expected. I really like these olives, and they're such a good deal.
The expiration date will vary depending on when the product was processed and packaged for sale, just as it will with any other food product. Check the expiration date on your jar to see if the batch you bought is still good.

I read the reviews several times before finally making the purchase. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Not good. I won't buy it again because it's not completely inedible. I can confirm a few things that came up because I spent so much time reading the other reviews: br>br> Red wine vinegar is still listed as an ingredient, with a DRY (drained) weight of 4. 4 pounds. The barrel itself is 6 pounds. Before draining, the weight was about 5 pounds. I did weigh it, of course. There's no "seal" on this, and yes, it could have been opened at any point during its journey. After seeing everyone's pictures of moldy olives, I'm going to keep this in my fridge. The top of the barrel has a strainer, but I can't see how to use it to get olives out of it; It simply rests on top of everything else. Yes, they're disgustingly salty. br>br> I'm a sucker for obscenely salty foods, but this was not one of them. It overpowered the olive flavor; I love olives, but I couldn't get enough of these. It was even strange in terms of texture. Some were a little too stiff, while others were a little too squishy. Simply put, it's a jumbled mess. They're coated in a thin layer of oil, with a hint of vinegar, but mostly salt, which you'll taste. br>br>Good things? Apart from olives, there are whole garlic cloves and large slices of red pepper in this dish. I'm thinking of using them in some recipes, such as omelettes and cheese balls. I am not going to throw them away! Everything is also covered in a generous amount of herbs and spices. Every effort appears to have been made to infuse these with flavor. But. Nope. Sorry for the inconvenience! br>br> I entered the olive lottery and came up empty-handed!.
They're salty, as some have mentioned. Some say I buy too many olives, and there is a lot of variety in olive packages, such as whether they are in brine, red wine vinegar, or olive oil. I get a brand called Jubilee Mix from Aldi that is oil-based and salt-free. Delallo is an excellent choice as well. Having said that, I adore these and will purchase more. It's a good deal when you compare the price per ounce to the small jars and packages I usually get, and I thought they tasted great. In fact, I just placed an order for Roland baby kalamata olives, which are also 4 pounds and 6 ounces. br>br>In summary, a good variety of olives and textures, good flavor, and a good price if you already buy a lot of olives to snack on.
soak. I received the olives and wanted to let others know that the jar has an interior basket that keeps the olives submerged until the container is opened. Some people had issues with that device, but all you have to do is push down on one side of it, and it will rock over, allowing you to pull it out. It will not work if you attempt to lift it straight up. A lot of people mentioned how salty it was. Yes. This is done to keep the olives fresh. It can be significantly reduced by placing the desired olives in a glass jar, adding water, and refrigerating. They should be more to your liking the next day for snacking or salad decoration. The container contains a nice selection of olives, as well as garlic cloves. It makes me happy.
Today I received my barrel of olives. They have a delicious flavor and are made up of the three types of olives mentioned. They're submerged in seasoned brine, with the barrel serving as a bonus. The most difficult part was prying the olive basket out of the barrel, which was supposed to keep them submerged. There are no rules. Overall, if you don't have access to olives in person, this is a fantastic deal. Many specialty shops are significantly more expensive. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** The second one was just as good as the first, and it was a great deal. br>br>Third order is due in May of 2021. Olives that are fantastic. Variety and value are both excellent. It's ideal for parties. Shipping was very quick.
br> It has a fantastic flavor! I'll definitely order these again (once I've finished with this massive tub of awesomeness). br>Excellent dollar value. There are obviously a lot of olives in the brine, but there are also a lot of whole garlic cloves, a lot of spices, a lot of brine, and red bell pepper. If you think the garlic and bell pepper are just spacers, you're wrong. fagetaboutit is a phrase that can be translated as "don't worry about This tub is overflowing with olives. br> STRONGLY SUGGESTED.
I've never owned so many olives in one place before! What a treat! I usually think of olives as something special, something to add a few at a time to a salad (or whatever), so the thrill of grabbing a whole handful is already a plus. And they're delectable. Salty, to say the least. While I don't use salt in my cooking, I imagine these to have a similar flavor to anchovies. Furthermore, their brine complements any salad dressing. And the packaging is cleverly designed—it's a little difficult to get to the olives at first, but I figure that's part of the fun. The three types of olives have a lot of personality. This is a fantastic addition to my quarantine supplies.
