Hi Mike, your Japanese rice bags don't have an expiration date and the bags date is based on the date the rice is polished. In Japan* we do NOT eat medium grained rice. By simply writing the name in Japanese*, you lead people into thinking this is Japanese short grain rice. However, this is not the case. Shame on you for false advertisements and misleading users. Intended for the North American market, not for Japan! THIS IS NOT A GOOD ITEM TO BUY.
Although this is manufactured in the USA, and as with previous reviewer Michell, I began buying this rice as I liked the pink packaging over 3 years ago Nevertheless, I found its taste to be similar to the white rice served at the eateries and little quaint restaurants in Japan, where I used to live Every time I visited the Japanese grocery store, I would bring home up to four bags. I ordered one from Amazon out of curiosity to look into one of the negative reviews, which I found to be false. The bag I received was fully sealed, the contents were as described, and they are fresh. This short grain Japanese rice variety is white and taste just as good as the classic variety. this, as I've been eating Sekka rice for over 3 years now (every day for lunch and dinner) and the only difference between it and Tamanishiki rice is the price (the latter is more expensive and come.
My experience with this was not good. Compared to the other brand I bought in the past, it does not taste as good the next day.
There is a lot of old rice in this bowl. Taking a look at the label, it looks like it was created in The smell of preservatives is overwhelming. Additionally, I notice that the packaging is different from the kind of rice I can buy at the Asian supermarket, probably because it is the old kind.
The rice is fresh and sealed perfectly. I used to eat Japanese sticky rice while living in Japan. It is short grain and tastes like the sticky rice I ate there. use my rice maker to make it, no problems.
It would also taste too sweet if it were not for the salt. Also, you should soak this rice for a little longer and steam it for a little longer than usual. If you don't do those two things, the rice becomes overly sweet and You will get top notch quality rice if you take those precautions (just like mochi rice)! This rice is really tasty, fluffy, dense, soft, As far as rice is concerned, texture is everything.
I'm awaiting the arrival of another Japanese product tomorrow. Another good product, as you might expect from this type of product. The delivery of this product from Amazon on a Sunday morning during these uncertain times is commendable.
